Sorry, can't remember who pointed me to this site, but I'm going to give it a try.
GuzziDiag

Interesting. JPLs software did work on Guzzis with similar ECUs. I wonder.... =P

Although, why the Guzzi name tag. Ugh! Asking for trouble unless Guzzi is more comfortable with stuff like this.

Nice find.

Have a good one.

Were DD writer files .ddg extensions? If so, they appear to be encrypted and not usable by the Guzzi writer. So says the change log.

If not, this could be an alternative. I wonder which is the vertical cylinder, right or left?

That makes about as much sense to be as speaking Italian...and being from the south, plain English is hard enough for me.
I'm starting to lose the good vibe I was feeling when I first visited the Guzzidiag site.
Well, it should be interesting if nothing else.

OK. I just checked and DD writer file are, in fact, ddg extensions. Unfortunately, this means you cannot use them with the Guzzi writer. :(

Still might be able to use the other functions, though. The loss of DD really makes things difficult.

I read that one of the recent update releases now allowed copy and paste. Maybe a DDG map could be opened with the DD map reader ECM, copy the cells, then open the Guzzi Writer and paste into it???

Just heard from Bernd. Here are his comments:

GuzziDiag can flash nothing.
GuzziDiag is only a diagnostic tool. So there is 100% no risk to use it.
You have to choose a Guzzi with a 5AM like Breva 1100.

What you mean ist the IAW5xReader/Writer.

The reader is also 100% save.
And if it is successful and you have the file on disk, you can be save that this file is correct.
Store it at a save place and work only with copies.

The Writer is 99.99% save.
Even if the proccess is not successful finished, you can restart ist.
Up to now no user destroyed his ECU.

Since I have nothing todo with Ducatis, I can tell you nothing about the locations of the mappings
and I have also no access to any Ducatii files. Sorry for that.
But I think in the near future mor Ducatisti will use the IAW5x Tools, so stay tuned.

5AM, that's great news.

First you have to get the cables. Amazon & eBay have them both, but I didn't see any US sellers of the Fiat cable so if you're in a hurry, go with Amazon. The JPDiag Faq should tell you everything that you need to know.

To reset the DTC code (or adjust the trim or reset the TPS) you can go with either JPDiag or GuzziDiag. (There's also a wireless Bluetooth solution if you have an Android phone. Search for M5x in the Play Store and get one of these along with the Fiat 3 pin cable.)

To turn off the Lambdas, you'll have to use TunerPro and GuzziDiag. You first dump your ECU with GuzziDiag reader, edit that file with TunerPro then flash your ECU with GuzziDiag writer. The GuzziDiag parts are easy it's the TunerPro that may be a problem.

TunerPro is a generic program. It works with a bunch of different ECU's. It does this by requiring an XDF file that's a description of your ECU's dump file. Without a good XDF file, you can't edit your file. I have one for my ST3 but its very doubtful that it'll be correct for yours. I don't know where you can get one for your bike. In the TunerPro forum there was a user named 916RS who was very knowledgeable. Perhaps he'd be able to help you out or try a post in your bike specific forum here. You may get lucky.

Hope this helps,

Rob

Rob thanks for the help. the info i needed was right under my nose but i couldnt smell it. turns out , i have the 2nd of the 2 cables out there that need the pins soldered to work. I just needed to open up the cable to find out what chipset it had. Currently downloading info !! thanks again

have you seen any step by step walk throughs on the interwebs? I have the cables. Ive been trying to test the cables , but windows wont even recognize the cable. Ive installed the suggested driver but no dice. If i install the cable manufacturer driver windows recognizes it. Might have something to do with running windows xp on mac running mavericks. Bout to give up and send it out from my dealer.

Yeah, those virtual machines are great for running software that doesn't need low level hardware access but once you have something different they frequently fall on their face. Have you tried asking neighbors/buddies if they have an old laptop sitting in a drawer? You'd be surprised. I'm using my daughter's old dell laptop. Looks like they can be picked up on the cheap and I can vouch that it works. I call it the garage laptop now. I loaded the pdf manuals and got a cheap microphone so it's a belt tension checking device too. Being able to do things on mine own is a big plus for me. Good luck!

Some input on the topic:

ScanST 3.00 is a great free software for diagnostics of Ducati Marelli ECUs. Use KKL, ELM327 or Galetto 1260 interface. Diagnostic ECU Marelli
This is the download page. Partly in French. Use Google translate of you need. Software itself has several language options, including English. It can also reset the service indicator, although it's a bit tricky to find it in the active diagnosis menu.
There's also variants for Android phones from the same programmer. Search M5x on Google Play and you'll find Monitor, Trimmer, Tests and DTC, all separate apps for different functions of the ScanST pc-software.

I've tried IAW5xreader and got it to work with a 5AM Ducati ECU. No success with the older 59M ECU. I know that the 59M has a different initialization call than the 5AM. I helpt out JP with some testing on the M59 before he added support for it in his SW. The IAW5xreader can probably be adopted to work with the 59M without too much trouble, but no Guzzi uses the 59M, so interest might be low.

As an alternative there is a SW called MPPS for up/downloading of SW to car ECUs. Also works with Ducati ECUs. You can get a clone interface with SW off Aliexpress.com for like $15. Get version 12. It's the most trouble free.

I'm now skeeered to attempt any more moto related computer projects.
Megasquirt DIYAutotune was suppose to be a plug and play with minor tweaks to get it perfect. Suppose to take a hour to install the ecu and go..
THis on the wife's E30 BMW, I've spent 4 or 5 nights trying to get it to run.

I want to go back to points....
