Do a search here for the previous threads about the conversion. Part of that discussion was about which years were best. Obviously the forks need to be upside down type. The older right side up units are not suitable. Some years are better than others.

I’ve read all of the posts I could find and understand that the K4 - K5 600 or 750 is the commonly used fork. From what I can find the K1- K3 750 is the same fork dimensions with slightly different valving that some prefer according to gixxer forums. The K1 - K3 600 won’t work because they are not USD until K4 when they were upgraded. I have a deal on a set of K3 750s that I think should work but just wanted to check if there was was something that I didn’t know about. They are cheap so I might get them anyway for something to play with.

Update

When I changed the springs I decided to take the advice of a few here and ride it for a while before going the GSXR internals route. After 2 months and about 2,000 kms on country roads I can say that I’m completely happy with it the way it is. The high speed compression could be better buts it’s easily good enough for me. Most of the dive has gone and I feel like I can ride the front wheel through corners the way I like to. I have much more confidence in it now and am at the edge of the rear tyre again.

Thanks to all who chimed in with their advice and knowledge, very much appreciated.
Cheers,

That's why I haven't gone there - yet. One day, maybe. Enjoy!
