Hope you get it fixed during winter! Must be a pain to have 10h to dealers. Are you living in the desert? 😅
I actually do live in the desert. The issue is part politics/part COVID. The "local" dealer is 3.5 hours 1 way, not ideal, but acceptable. The state of NM was only letting them open 1 day a week for service during the lockdown as motorcycle shops weren't "essential". So the tech had to find other work. They have yet to find another tech, so they are sales only currently. The other "close' dealer in El Paso(3 hours 1 way) lost their tech, got a new one who is not Ducati certified the last time i called. Dallas(AMS) is 6.6 hours, Austin is 7.5, but when i reached out to Ducati NA about the issue, they tried every dealer within a 10 hour radius, all were booked 2+ months out, due to people riding again and needing service.

Pre Pandemic, it would be a trip to Albuquerque and hang out for the day while they did the repair. Now i cant even get warranty work done until winter. I don't blame Ducati on this one, the world just went crazy.

I too had this happen to my 2020 V4S Streetfighter. It was all taken care of under warranty and I just picked it up this evening. I rode about 22 miles back home and I still noticed that a little bit of oil is still there. I’m going to keep my eye on this for the next few rides and report back my findings. The shop I went to handled it very well. They knew about it right away and had my bike back to me the following week. The water pump assembly was replaced and was fitted with new fasteners for the pump and clutch cover. It’s worthy to mention the repair order stated that the engine case and areas between the cylinders were cleaned and the bike was test ridden to confirm the pump was operating correctly. After the ride it was inspected for leaks to which there were none. I have confidence that everything is well however you just don’t let these things go, I’ll be very critical overlooking it the next few rides. Also thank all of you and this forum as well as this post for getting me into the shop and getting this fixed.

How big of a job is this? I assume they have to remove the tank and all the wiring/piping? I have a oil leak that should be covered under warranty but I'm always worried when the dealer has to open up the bike like that.

Just wanted to confirm that after many miles the oil leak was in fact taken care of and that nothing negative has happened going forward. I’m just little bit over 11,000 miles on my bike now. I have just recently done an annual service at my Ducati dealership and again everything is going well on my bike.

I've fallen victim to the dreaded water pump leak...Mine is a 2020 SF V4s, I am sure when it started, I havnt been able to ride much this year and I only rode a few hundreds miles last year. Dealer said it should be repaired/replaced under warranty even though my bike is already 3 months out of warranty (was told).
Question: I have a 1/2 Arrow system and the Termi UP-map. Does that make any difference to the dealer as far as performing warranty work?
BTW my dealership is Eurocycle in Reno NV, a true shit-show when it come to motorcycle dealership...but that's another story. I will be taking the SF to San F. or Sacramento.

You should be fine

I've had the same leak. Nor I or the mechanics could pinpoint exactly where it came from since I was stupid enough to clean the bike thoroughly before service. They suspected that the engine was a bit overfilled and adjusted oil level.
When the snow has melted away it's time to see if it comes back. Yes, warranty is a sweet thing...
Hello,

How did the problem end in your case.?

I was reading your publication about engine oil leaks, something very similar happened to me, My bike isn't in warranty :( , it wasn't that bad like james case but i could evident the smoke of burned oil and splashed oil but it was on the right side of the bike as opposed to yours cases that which was on the left side and Unlike, in my motorcycle it had a decrease in the oil level. The next day after the event I took it to the dealer and he told me that it had excess oil in the engine (and they made the oil server before the issue), however they removed the excess, we left the oil level between the two marks (min max) and now after 600 kilometers traveled, the oil is below the minimum mark. The other thing is that it didn't expel the oil that way again but I can see that a too few drops of oil are coming out of the head joints. I look forward to your help, thank you very much.
