Hi,

I have recently purchased new OEM brake pads for my SFS. During the replacement I have noticed that they have different set of markings on them.

Here 's the photo:

Does any of you know what's the difference between the pads? Or what these markings stand for? Is there difference in braking pad compound?
(Old pad markings: TT2910HH , 9882.10, 9205 and new pad markings are: TT2182FF, 07.9882.12, 4219 )

Why am I asking you this? Since the brake pads have been installed, it seems to me that they are not as good as the previous one. They do stop the bike, but the inital bite and feeling is much more... soft. I know that they need some time to set in properly, but they are on the bike for 1000km now, so they should be working properly by now.

Have you ever had similar experience with OEM brake pads?

Thanks in advance,

Kristijan

There's a two letter Edge Code that the US DOT mandates be marked on all street legal brake pads. The code will give you some indication of the pad's ability to resist fade and stopping power. However, because of the wide range of friction coefficient involved in each letter set, it can be only a rough indication.

According to the Code, your new FF pads will give less stopping power than the original HH pads — which is what you're feeling.
