2018 multi pikes peak, or other models?

Hi everyone,
I’m contemplating adding a 2018 pikes peak to the garage. But need some advice on whether the standard 1260s, or even the 1200s iterations are as good, better or if I should abandon the whole idea and get a V4s? V4 pp is too pricy I think, so probably not an option. Looking to buy preowned.

i noticed the 1260pp does not have electronic suspension. Any thoughts on that?

would appreciate some input, advice from current 1260pp owners and any recommendations.

for reference, my current bike, which I will keep, is a 2007 monster S4RS.

Cheers all

I have a 2020 1260S, non-PP. I'm sure that this is a minority opinion, but I think the Skyhook suspension sucks. I really hate that compression and rebound cannot be adjusted separately. It wouldn't be so bad if the balance between them was close to what it ought to be, but it's not. The fork especially has waaaay too much compression relative to rebound. So you end trying to make the best compromise out of bad situation, and it's never going to be right.
Plus the spring rates are too soft. (and I only weigh 165) And they're aren't many people who can do anything with them. Overall, crap system IMO.

I have a '20 PP, traded in a '16 1200 S. I liked the convenience of the electronic suspension but what you'll get with the '18+ PP is Marchesini wheels and Ohlins suspension, which can likely be serviced by any reputable Ohlins authorized dealer anywhere in the world. The Sachs shock isn't serviceable and runs $2500+ US btw.

Any accessories for the 1260S, and most from the 1200 DVT's, will bolt on.

If you can find a decent deal go for it. If you're going to put your own wheels on and prefer the ease of electronic suspension, the S may be what you need.

Based on reviews I thought the skyhook suspension was gods gift to mankind, but perhaps it’s not as good as the simpler setup? Also sounds like it’s potential for more stuff to go wrong.
Will see what I can find, I really like the look of the 1260 PP but will have to wait until I come across the right one.

rhanks for all your feedback.

I guess it depends on the type of riding you do.. If you're more of a spirited rider type of rider, then the Ohlins with Pikes Peak would make sense due to their adjustability & quality.. You can also just swap out the springs according to your weight.. + the Marchesini lighter wheels def have a positive affect on the flickability of the bike.
