Hi all, I bought a 2004 multistrada 1000ds with a frozen engine on flea bay a few months ago for $560. I was told that it had a chronic oil leak and the guy was using it as a daily commuter. He kept putting off getting the oil replaced or topped off and the Engine ran low enough on oil to seize. I took the engine out and apart. It revealed the crank/piston bearing was broken. I inquired about getting it rebuilt but was recommended to just buy a used working one.
I bought a running low mileage used multistrada 1000ds engine (apparently the ones for the monster s2r have different cases just fyi) for $750 and then spent quite a few hrs replacing it into the frame. I think that I plugged all the wiring harness fittings back into the correct slots
I put in a fresh battery and gas. Engine cranks over but I can tell that its not getting fuel. I checked and confirmed that the fuel pump works (when I put external power leads to it) but it is not getting power through the wiring harness.
Dash has the amber engine light illuminated - EOBD light (amber). Per shop manual-- "When on, this light is used by the control unit to signal the presence of errors and sometimes the consequent engine disabling".
I think I will prob have to take it into the shop for computer eval with mathis tester? Any ideas of things to check (Im not very skilled as an electronics tech. I looked at the electrical schematic in the workshop manual and confirmed that all the fuses are good and the right amp rating. The lights, turn signals, horn etc all work.
Any ideas on what to check before I pay the shop to eval from the gurus would be very much appreciated!
