Hold down the 'A' key on the dash as you turn the ignition on. Then you should see the dash scroll through the error codes.

Error codes are:

1.1 Throtlle Position Sensor (TPS) short-circuit to battery +
1.2 Throtlle Position Sensor (TPS) short-circuit to ground
2.1 Oil pressure sensor short-circuit to battery +
2.2 Oil pressure sensor short-circuit to ground
3.1 Oil temperature sensor short-circuit to battery +
3.2 Oil temperature sensor short-circuit to ground
4.1 Air temperature sensor short-circuit to battery +
4.2 Air temperature sensor short-circuit to ground
5.1 Battery HI
5.2 Battery LO
7.1 Fuel sensor short-circuit to battery +
7.2 Fuel sensor short-circuit to ground

10.1 Horizontal cylinder coil short-circuit to battery +
10.2 Horizontal cylinder coil short-circuit to ground
11.1 Vertical cylinder coil short-circuit to battery +
11.2 Vertical cylinder coil short-circuit to ground
12.1 Injector 1 short-circuit to battery +
12.2 Injector 1 short-circuit to ground
13.1 Injector 2 short-circuit to battery +
13.2 Injector 2 short-circuit to ground
16.0 Fuel pump relay open circuit
19.1 Starter solenoid short-circuit to battery +
19.2 Starter solenoid short-circuit to ground
21.1 Stepper motor short-circuit to battery +
21.2 Stepper motor short-circuit to ground
21.3 Stepper motor open circuit

30.0 Generic ECU error
34.0 Signal panel (sensor discovery)
36.0 Speed (sensor discovery)
37.0 Immobilizer (key / transponder not found)
37.1 Immobilizer (antenna discovery)
37.2 Immobilizer (instrument panel serial driver)
37.3 Immobilizer (serial cable disconnected)
37.5 Immobilizer (key not acknowledged)
37.6 Immobilizer (immo virgin - ECU progr.)
38.0 Can line

My Multi 1000DS ALWAYS has the engine light on, but its because on almost all Multis the Tank Level Sender is a P.O.S. that never works. 300Km per Tank is a fair range yardstick.

If you aren't hearing the pump prime when you turn the ignition on, then its either the fuel Pump relay, and its not uncommon that they die. Or the wiring harness.
Find the relay, swap it out, they are generic and not expensive and go from there. You could test the relay if you can be bothered but my local auto parts store normally has one of the same spec and alot cheaper than a Ducati part (which is normally the same part in a very expensive Ducati branded cardboard box. The Multistrada forum also has a very comprehensive list of info and people who "know"! ;)

If its missing that would explain ALOT! ;)

Well i can't speak to the compatiblity of the NAPA part, but it was missing on the bike when you bought it. I cant remember if any of the other relays on the bike are the same/compatible. But i'd suspect the new relay first as the bike did run.

I have just finished "colourising" the wiring diagram. Perhaps it will help. Its a Vector based file so you can print it as a Poster. ;)

Morning,
by all means if there is an error let me know. I literally traced over the Diagram from the manual and it wouldn't be the first time that i have found errors in a Ducati original diagram. Screen shot from the manual attached. Next time i am in the workshop i'll check the continuity of those wires and correct it as appropriate.

Cool, here is an Updated PDF, also with the 3 other Fuses labeled.

Right, having had a close look at the 1100 vs 1000 wiring diagrams, the 1100 is different in lots of other ways too. So, i started form scratch and now have one for the 1100 Bikes.

Both are attached, if anyone sees a mistake, please let me know.

;). Chris

There are plenty here on the forum, and a bit of searching, will tell you how to turn off the immobilizer in the map file. Then keys and dash are no longer an issue. My 1000 ds throws an Immo error. But it is because it's off.
