vibration/shaking on new Multistrada v2s

Hi all,
I’ve had my Multistrada V2S for about a month now. I had the first service a couple of weeks ago, and I think the vibration started after that — but I’m not 100% sure if it’s related.
I get a noticeable vibration especially between 60–70 km/h, especially in the handlebars and visible in the mirrors. It happens:
both under cruise control and engine braking
and even if I coast in neutral, which makes me think it might be tyre-related.
I’ve checked tyre pressures (2.4 front / 2.5 rear solo, then also tried 2.7 rear – no difference). I also tried removing the top case – no change.
Any ideas what could be causing this? Could it be a wheel balance issue, or something else?

"a weight" is not going to be detectable at all at 40 mph, and perhaps neither a whole strip of weights.. but the important thing is that balance problems increase nonlinearly with speed. If you're having issues at 40 mph, you'll be needing new fillings with blurry vision at 80. It's pretty obvious.

If 40 mph is problematic but higher speeds are fine, then it's anything other than radial balance. On a new bike that was just in the hands of a potential dealership clown tech, I'd look at:
  • improperly torqued axle(s) and pinch bolts
  • possible reversed or out of order axle spacers
  • misaligned rear axle if not single-sided swingarm
  • improperly torqued triples, and check fork height evenness
  • improperly torqued steering stem
  • check fork brace if any
  • tire carcass damage and bad cupping (did the tech go for a test ride, smack a bad lip/pothole, and return the bike saying nothing?)

As a dual sport nerd, I do my own wheel/tire stuff on a fleet of bikes with varied configurations (rim locks with and without, balance weights with and without), and sometimes the wheels get horrible mud encrustations that the pressure washer barely removes.. so I've seen it all when it comes to off-balance conditions. If you wanna see wheel hop, a pound of mud will do it, that's for sure.

I doubt its your windscreen, but could try bike with it removed, theres also the screen behind the main screen (Nav thing?) Id put money on a tyre out of balance, i hated those stock Scorpions, shit tyre they are. Mate had one fall to pieces at 4000kms.

🤔.....I couldn't see any shake in the video.

Have you altered any suspension settings? Maybe wound the rear down or up or stiffened the forks and not the rear before noticing the shake?

It is possible a tyre has a slight shake - I had one like that but I let the tyre wear out (18k kms later) and it disappeared once a new Scorp II went on the front.

Your bike is brand new, 1800kms, so go for the easy stuff first.....1- anything you have touched? 2- wear & tear....maybe the forks have settled in and now need a turn more preload?

I really couldn't see a bar shake in the clip, and it didn't go out of control while hands off.

Check your hand guards are level with each other or if anything has come loose now with a few kms riding and settling in......but don't get too uptight about a few minor wiggles - the MS design is not an aerodynamic slipstream style, though it should still be stable 🫡

You aren't lugging the motor in 6th gear at 70kph are you? .......just clearing the air, not trying to add insult 😉

Has the bike shop changed the driving mode? I have no idea re the newer bikes and did a quick search so maybe a softer ride has cause a front shake...The shake looks to be suspension or tyre related...so pop it on the center stand and get the front wheel of the ground spin the wheel check for anything binding, then check the steering head bearings wheel axle for any slop or play..have a close look at the tyre for feathering or corrugation's

^^^ Mates replacement front Scorpion literarily came apart on a ride after 3800kms, his first lasted 6000kms. In my case i was on a long ride, bike had done 2800kms, a day of of wet riding and i was loosing the front constantly, little twitches of lose of traction, it shattered my confidence of riding in the wet, fast forward a month to a trip away with the wife the front let go on a damp corner, wife got knocked unconscious and a trip to the hospital in an ambulance, i managed to ride the bike home, passer by carried our smashed off pannier bags. Conti Trail attacks 2s went on a few weeks later once id fixed broken parts, the shit Scorpions were used to start a bon fire of tree branches. Never fit them ever again. never never shit tire. I never slag a tire but in this particular case it deserves it.
