Rizoma throttle grip slipping

I have a pair of these Rizoma billet grips, very nice they are too. I have recently had problems only in colder weather - less than 10 deg C (50deg F) - where the throttle grip will slip. Frustrating at the least, dangerous at worst.
Anyone encountered similar issues with these and come up with a cure? I took it off last weekend and bashed out the plastic inner core, filled it with silicone and put it back into the alloy outer. Still doing the same thing again. The plastic inner must be contracting more than the alloy outer?

An old motocross trick I use is to get some fricton tape from an electrical supply or hardware store. wrap the core with the tape being careful not to overlap the tape too much, then use an air compressor to slide the grip on. A couple of strands of saftey wire and they should never move. Even if you pressure washed them!!!!!
