Hi all,

I’m getting ready to pull the trigger on another 2008 hyper.
New tires and full termi exhaust. Other than that, she’s stock.
11,100 miles for $6500. I can’t get him any lower. He was asking $7450.

only a few thousand miles away from a service but not the intensive Desmo service.

for what it’s worth…. I have a 22k mile 2008 hyper with all sorts of goodies. Clutch, larger 6 gallon tank, microtec ecu that should plug and play and a slew of other goodies. My plan is to swap over what I can and sell off the “lesser” bike.

Thoughts on swapping the tank over? Back in the day and obviously still they were notorious for stripping bolts or cross threading or whatever. My fear is I can maybe take it out but won’t be able to install without ruining it. Should I pass on the tank and just use everything else?

What does it have that mine doesn’t? 11k less miles and the need for a desmo service. That’s really all. Well. And the need for a suspension rebuild, a new oil cooler (mines leaking), and my slipper clutch is slipping. So quite a few things.

Yes it has factory hand guards on it. So I’d sell them to also recoup some funds.

Hey, like I said, it only needs to make sense to you. Sounds like all the time/money you invest in this will end up being double what you'd pay on keeping everything maintained, but that's just me. 22K miles is nothing to these engines, unless you're one of the few that is banging the limiter every shift. And common sense would say buying the new one, you should still go through it with belts and inspection, unless you have documentation from a dealer that it has been done. And you'll be paying premium for the new to you moto, and either taking a hard kick in the ass in depreciation for yours, due to all the things it needs, or spending the money to repair it for sale.

Whatever floats your boat, bud. I've bought, sold, then bought the same bike. We're all mentally ill in this hobby.

Sounds like we are all a little looney. I guess nothing makes sense yet it’s all crystal clear. I figure if I sell mine for $4500, that’s equivalent to the $6500 after I spend at least $2k in service. Even if I sell mine for $4k…. At that rate I might even be able to part the bike out for the $4k.

Yea. It all is clear as mud.

Buy it you can never have enough air cooled hypers.

Hang on to those stupid hand guards with the fold out mirrors that fold back in anytime they feel like it for a few more years & sell them for a bundle to some guy that keeps his pristine hangar queen in the living room to look at instead of ride.

Some Ducati owners are weirder than Porsche owners.

Front forks have identical guts as my 2008 non 'S' with black fork tubes & that stupid fork cap with all the little holes requiring a special socket, the rear ohlin shock has nothing special going on inside except that expensive ohlin sticker, forged wheels are a whooping 1 lb lighter (yea) and softer, that evo motor does absolutly nothing for me under 5500 rpm.

I'll stick with the 08 & 09 hypers besides I have every tool, scanner, manual & full size laminated wiring diagram most dealers & shops don't.

Is this an 1100s dressed up in SP? This is the bike for $6500.
As JEFFRPM said, this is an 07 or 08that has been painted in the later (2012) Corse colorway.

It is a S-spec, as per the M4-monoblocks, forged wheels (the design is different as the cast ones), carbon belt covers, carbon fork protectors, black fork stanchions and Öhlins rear shock. If this is a non-S, somebody spent quite a bit of money upgrading it all to S-spec.

$ 6500,- with 11k miles would be an absolute steal over here in Europe...

That's a 08 09 hyper 1100 'S' see that big honking temp sender sticking out of the horizontal intake rocker cover? That's a dead giveaway it's an early hyper. (there's more things but I'm not going to get into it)

Either somebody made a non S into a S by installing forged wheels (or pinstriped cast ones) & changing forks then turning into a pseudo SP by installing carbon bits & paint.

Basically it's not a SP under any circumstances those things were not built until late 2010 until the water pumpers came out.

Anyway it's worth every bit of asking price even if it's a non S as long as everything's in order maintinacd, clean title etc.

Where is it?........I'm on my way cash in hand.
