Hello, new to this forum and exited!
I have a concern, I recently bought a streetfighter v4, and i have noticed an oil leak coming from the top of the engine, between the two cylinder heads. Any suggestions? Is this normal? The engine isn’t over serviced. The second picture shows exactly where it’s coming from. It shows a combination of water and oil because i had just washed it and was in the process of drying it.

Warranty... hopefully only a valve cover gasket. I'm not a Duc v4 expert but that location means valve cover or head gasket leak on most engines. Leaking valve cover is nothing, leaking head gasket is more problematic.

If it turns out to be a head gasket and you've had the bike for less than 30 days I'd return it (different rules apply in different places regarding returning a faulty vehicle). If you've had it for 30 days to 6 months they get one chance to fix it then you can request a refund/replacement if the repair fails.

I've seen people report some from there, some say its a water pump issue. Most of the ones are over full on oil. These things are tough to get exact.

I for sure had the same issue with pooling oil leak, looks like it stemmed from the weep hole in the bottom of the V, probably the classic water pump issue. After checking the sight glass, it was overfilled! (by the dealer as the bike is new-used to me) I reduced to the min line, cleaned it, hopefully, this fixes the issue.

I've had the same leak. Nor I or the mechanics could pinpoint exactly where it came from since I was stupid enough to clean the bike thoroughly before service. They suspected that the engine was a bit overfilled and adjusted oil level.
When the snow has melted away it's time to see if it comes back. Yes, warranty is a sweet thing...
Can you post some updated really quickly if adjusting the oil level helped or we have a bigger problem in our hands

I noticed the same on my street fighter last night and haven't been able to locate where the oil is coming from other than a tiny hold back there. Now, I personally hate my bike getting torn apart so hoping this is something minor. Please followup on this issue or resolution as I am calling Ducati to notify them. My oil level is a Lil over the line so thinking I will change the oil and make sure it is level and go from there . I am under 6 months

During a 1500 miles touring trip to Germany, the small oil drip was accompanied by a large engine coolant leak from the same area. Each time I put the bike on the kick stand, a littel stream of water was pouring out from the "V" onto the ground. I filled her up at the same rate she was pouring out to get home. The workshop was replacing the waterpump as many others has done. The new pump from Ducati is slightly updated from the original one to eliminate the problem according to the mechanic.

I've only done 200 miles after replacement but she's completely dry so far. I've tried to push her with high revs, slow high temp riding in town and some long wheelies (if the different operating angle of the engine might create some problems) to try to provoke it, but it seems to hold up. Now the season is over and no more riding planned, but hopefully next season will be without the oil stain marks on the stator cover.

They never could get mine in, no dealer within 10 hours could get to it, i did my own flush/fill and it's been fine since. Maybe over the winter I can get her in. I got a special case number, so even if it fails out of warranty they'll fix it and related issues.

I too had this happen to my 2020 V4S Streetfighter. It was all taken care of under warranty and I just picked it up this evening. I rode about 22 miles back home and I still noticed that a little bit of oil is still there. I’m going to keep my eye on this for the next few rides and report back my findings. The shop I went to handled it very well. They knew about it right away and had my bike back to me the following week. The water pump assembly was replaced and was fitted with new fasteners for the pump and clutch cover. It’s worthy to mention the repair order stated that the engine case and areas between the cylinders were cleaned and the bike was test ridden to confirm the pump was operating correctly. After the ride it was inspected for leaks to which there were none. I have confidence that everything is well however you just don’t let these things go, I’ll be very critical overlooking it the next few rides. Also thank all of you and this forum as well as this post for getting me into the shop and getting this fixed.

How big of a job is this? I assume they have to remove the tank and all the wiring/piping? I have a oil leak that should be covered under warranty but I'm always worried when the dealer has to open up the bike like that.

I've fallen victim to the dreaded water pump leak...Mine is a 2020 SF V4s, I am sure when it started, I havnt been able to ride much this year and I only rode a few hundreds miles last year. Dealer said it should be repaired/replaced under warranty even though my bike is already 3 months out of warranty (was told).
Question: I have a 1/2 Arrow system and the Termi UP-map. Does that make any difference to the dealer as far as performing warranty work?
BTW my dealership is Eurocycle in Reno NV, a true shit-show when it come to motorcycle dealership...but that's another story. I will be taking the SF to San F. or Sacramento.

I was reading your publication about engine oil leaks, something very similar happened to me, My bike isn't in warranty :( , it wasn't that bad like james case but i could evident the smoke of burned oil and splashed oil but it was on the right side of the bike as opposed to yours cases that which was on the left side and Unlike, in my motorcycle it had a decrease in the oil level. The next day after the event I took it to the dealer and he told me that it had excess oil in the engine (and they made the oil server before the issue), however they removed the excess, we left the oil level between the two marks (min max) and now after 600 kilometers traveled, the oil is below the minimum mark. The other thing is that it didn't expel the oil that way again but I can see that a too few drops of oil are coming out of the head joints. I look forward to your help, thank you very much.
