Experience with Omnia Racing?

Anyone ever purchased from Omnia Racing (OmniaRacing.net)? Company based out of Italy -- I took advantage of the good Euro to USD exchange rates 2 months ago to pick up an EVR slipper for my Daytona race bike, and I either got the wrong kit or there's a spacer or washer missing because my race shop here has tried installing it twice now with no success. Been emailing them for a week now requesting a return but haven't received anything back from them. Thanks for whatever insights anyone might have.

NOTE: No reasonable chance it's the mechanic installing wrong, just to preempt that comment. Evan Steel Performance here is legit -- currently both guys are crew chiefs for Motoamerica teams and have crew chiefed for the EBR World Superbike team in the past. The problem with the clutch seems to be the total clutch height with the pressure plate is 4mm shorter than the stock clutch/pressure plate height, so that's preventing the actuator arm from engaging properly.

So I got an email back from them just this morning actually, it at least confirms they received it. It basically just said "we are checking with EVR," but at least it's something and I know they got it. I also emailed EVR directly myself last night, so before I got Omnia's reply -- Evr replied back pretty quickly asking for specific pics of the kit I received to see if I got the wrong kit or a wrong part in the kit or what. So more to follow, but at least I got some movement on it.

BUYER BEWARE if you are ever considering buying from Omnia Racing. After 3 weeks of emails back and forth now (their replies being almost word-for-word every time just one sentence that "we are waiting to hear from EVR," they've now gone comm out and will no longer respond to my emails or requests for replacement or refund. So it seems this is a case of selling a product to an overseas customer and knowing they can get away with not being held accountable to make it right with the customer if there's a problem.

I normally don't like these types of posts, but this is just a data point for anyone in the future that might buy from them. People can make their own decision, but if anyone desires any further info on this and the correspondence we had, you can send me a PM. Who knows, maybe they're a great company for buyers in Italy since they can be held accountable for selling within country.

I've had these kinds of experiences purchasing internationally. It's rare, but it does happen. That's why I always use Paypal. They are really the only ones who can directly refund your money when such incidents happen. I may be going through the same business with a fairing manufacturer in Italy, but will wait and see. Fortunately, I purchased through Paypal and will have recourse if necessary.

I've never had to make a claim through Paypal, but based on what you said here, I just did. It looks like it takes a while, they have til 28 June to "resolve the dispute" and then I can file it as an actual claim. I wasn't even thinking of the Paypal route considering I bought it back in late March, so it had slipped my mind that I used Paypal and not just their website payment option. We'll see where it goes from here. Thanks man.

Well they already declined the refund and said "we contact EVR." So this is exhausting...

This is airing out dirty laundry to some extent, so if this is inappropriate, mods please delete. But I just responded to their refund decline with the following info that summarizes the correspondence:

With respect, the only response I've received from your customer service is "we wait to hear back from EVR." So I personally contacted EVR on May 24, and emails were exchanged on May 25 (they requested pics of the kit I received, which I sent them on May 25); May 25 (they asked if the kit included a 3.5mm spacer, which I responded on May 27 that yes, it did include this washer); May 30 (they described the washer configuration required for fitment, which my mechanic tried unsuccessfully, to which I responded on May 30 that this still wasn't working); May 31 (they sent a pic of the washer configuration they described on May 30, to which I responded on May 31 that the original problem still remains, that the clutch actuating arm can't engage the pressure plate post because the pressure plate is too short); again on May 31 (they said "we're very sorry but we don't understand the problems you're having. We have sold about 25 clutches and customers installed them without any problems. We think something is wrong in your procedures.") My final correspondence with EVR was on May 31 when I replied to their message saying "My mechanic is a professional race mechanic and one of the best in the USA, having crewed for World Superbike teams in the past. I maintain that there is something wrong with the kit, and at this point after attempting to install it three times and having tried everything Carmen has recommended and it still not working, I would like to return the clutch." They responded with "I'm sorry but about sending back clutch you've to ask Omnia Racing. We can't tell nothing about that." So I don't care to wait for EVR's response, they have already attempted to troubleshoot the problem unsuccessfully and now they say it's up to you now to return the clutch. This has gone on long enough, and I have already paid $255 of labor charges having my shop attempt to install this clutch.

For the reasons for the dispute I selected "Different Model" and "Missing Parts." Hopefully the fact that I attempted to have the clutch installed already (3 times) doesn't negate the request for refund -- I would hope it makes the request stronger.

This is a painful lesson to always just buy from Motowheels. Not worth messing with an overseas company to try to save a few bucks. And I've always had great luck with the Motowheels guys.

Matt, thanks for reaching out. At this point I think I just need to let this Paypal dispute/claim run its course, unless there's some way you can influence that process. But I've got the impression that nothing is going to influence these Omnia Racing guys in a positive way.

Btw, I just bought some stuff from you last night, some 53/56 fork sleeves for using Ohlins triples with the Showas!
