The version number depends on what function you’re in if using the OBDStar tool. All functions for Ducati:
MotoDiag is v31.53 = all diag/faults/active tests
IMMO is v40.06 = Immobilizer active/update
ODO Meter is v31.11 = Odometer active/update
Top_Duc, perhaps you can give me an answer to a problem with the OBDStar I just got yesterday.

I updated it immediately to the current software, including version 31.53.

When I open MotoDiag I get a string of SAE and ISO files as well as an "All." I presume they should be downloaded (or opened) and after selecting All (or each file individually) the rotating icon shows that the process is going on. But when all are finished I get a notice that the process failed because of a bad connection and I should make sure that the key is on, main cable is connected, battery is good, etc. Each of the four is done so I click OK at the bottom right of the screen - and get the same message again. And again. And again.

Maybe this matters or maybe not: As I was doing the initial setup I saw a quick flash of the word "Euro" at the top of the screen. Might I have missed a point to have selected something like "North America" or "USA."

What we have here is a failure to communicate but I don't know why. Do you have any ideas?

TIA,
Pilgrim

Pilgram you say the main cable is connected and battery is good. Do you have one cable connected to the OBD port and a second cable connected to the battery. My OBDstar continued to give me error messages until I connected the second cable to the battery for a 12v source on my ST3. David

The list you see is likely the ECU/software numbers. I don’t recall seeing exactly what you’re seeing. I can’t get to my tools this evening, but I’ll check it out tomorrow to see if I can help.

Yep, I do have 12v (actually 11.8V) from the battery to the unit. I have a trickle charger on it while I run the device.
I have managed to find my way to some useful information, stored codes, but I still haven't really figured out how to navigate the system easily. Many codes, of many types. I'll list them in another post soon.

And never mind the software; I think . . . well, never mind. I'm making progress, erratic, but slowly. Thanks.

Stored codes . . . I found quite a list of them, eight or ten. I took a screen shot by the OBDScan and left for dinner. When I got back I couldn't find them on the device and the screenshot was incomplete. They are undated but probably in order from oldest down to newest - but I'm not sure.

But here's what I do have; I'll look farther tomorrow to find the others. Would it make sense to start it to see what current codes are generated?

P0481 Fan relay control
P0170 Fuel trim malfunction
P0135 Problem w/O2 sensor (probably from when I took the muffler & pipe off)
P0120 Throttle position sensor - open circuit or short to positive
P0505 Idle air control malfunction

These codes are from the Internet. They do not correlate to the codes found in the FSM.

I'll see if I can un-store the other two or three that don't show up on the screen shot I used for reference here. But for the moment, I think that last one may point to the problem.

Make note of all the codes. Clear them and then start the motor and see which ones return.
There were a bunch of codes; I won't list them here unless they become relevant to thinking.

Just got them cleared and started it up on the lift, ran the temp up 125F and got no codes at all. Even so, it goes to 2,200rpm on cold start and stays there until I can feel heat from the engine; I didn't notice the actual temp. I'll watch for that when I start it for the test ride this afternoon. Then it drops back to 1325rpm according the the scanner. It looks like 1150 to 1,200rpm on the tach.

The scanner shows throttle angle at fully released as 5.5 degrees. Is that about right? I can't find a proper number for that.

Your TPS angle is high. It should be 3.2° or so. Do you have the service manual from Desmo Times? It has an excellent write-up of how to reset it. If not, Brad's YouTube channel probably has something for the linear TPS reset. He also has a write-up somewhere on his website for it. Just be thankful you have the linear TPS. It's much easier to do than my non-linear.

Oh, and don't just go pushing buttons. There's a process to follow. It's not hard.

That TA probably accounts for the high idle, I suppose. I'll bring it back to spec. I wonder how that change came about while in a shop having tires changed.
I've got both of LT's manuals, the generic Ducati one and the ST version.
I'll be checking Brad's stuff too, of course.
Where's the fun in not pushing buttons just to see what happens? It's kinda like life when you say, "Well, why not?!"
Thanks,

Trying to clear the service code on my wife's 2017 MTS 1200s using the MelcoDiag software and cables has been unsuccessful.

Like many others here this has been a frustrating process that may result in the use of some black electrical tape to cover the alert icons on the dash.

I can connect with the bike and get its info, however when I go to the reset tab and hit the button to reset the service reminder nothing happens.

the service reset changed around 2016 on some models. i had a socio tool and it wouldn't reset any scramblers, even though it would talk to them. i had to buy a texa navigator txb just to do them.

i don't specifically know about the melco as i have never used it, but confirm it can actually do it on that model.

The MT510 is not all it is made out to be. Works on my 2019 Supersport. It removed the Exhaust valve warning light. It reads my 2010 multistrand 1200s. I removed the pin number to put a new one in, now there is no way of replacing it with this device. That's a £60 trip to the local ( not Ducati dealer who wanted £100 to put a new pin number in) dealer to re instal the pin. It didn't recognise my mates 2014 Multistrada 1200s ( Dif ECU ). Will be spending some more time with it soon, ill keep you guys posted.
