Help with CableTest "Timeout" errors

Hello Ducatisti:
I am seeking the collective wisdom of this forum to help me troubleshoot problems I am having with the cable test feature of DucatiDiag.

I am using the blue KKL-VAG cable + Black 3 pin OBD cable.
Latest drivers for VAG cable installed on my Windows7 PC.

I have both cables connected to my PC, but not the bike.
The ODB cable is connected to the bike's battery for power.
When I run the cable test, I pass "Test1" for the 12v test

After a while, DucatiDiag Cable test returns results of "Test2" and it always returns "Buffer Time Out" errors, see:

I have tried the following port settings to no avail:
1) using FIFO buffers, but lowering the receive/transmit buffers
2) Turning off use of FIFO buffers
3) Lowering Baud rate.
4) Running Cable Test with cable connect to the bike's diagnostic cable, with bike off or on (engine running)

Any other port settings or test I can perform to determine the cause of the "Timeout" problem?

Any help would be appreciated

Your issue is quite possibly an incompatible chip in rhe cable. I had the same issue and found my cable did not have a FTDI chip. Bought a different cable with a FTDI chip and voila!

If your cable is FTDI chipped, then you have an incompatible driver.

Troubleshooting with an alternate laptop may help too.

Some of the common problems we come across with connection are:
Plugging the KKL lead into the computer before installing the drivers causing the default drivers to be installed
Using the drivers supplied with the KKL lead
Not installing the FTDI drivers from this exe file http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM20824_Setup.exe and then plugging the KKL lead into the PC
Wrong com port setting (use device manager to identify) then change the value in JPDiag
Using newer combined KKL/CAN leads rather than just 409.1 Vag Com KKL
Wrong ini setting - IAW59M use 'slow ini' IAW5AM use 'fast init'
Not having the ignition on when connecting
Poorly charged battery
Faulty KKL leads

I found this info here: JPDiag FAQ

1. Question: What is key_requesterc.exe?
2. I have a cle.bin file from my older laptop, can i reuse this file or i need to request a new one?

that forum is off.. cant register.

is that needed?
Rumor is that Ducatidiag is no longer available. I really appreciate you doing searches instead of making new threads, but I don't think you will get much help anywhere.

Seems the lawyers got involved and shut them down.
