After nearly 20 years of Ducati ownership (I currently have 3 of them) it finally happened to me. While taking out my 998S FE for its first ride yesterday the bike ended up stuck in gear. I was coming out of a corner and about to go uphill. Remember shifting down and about to pass a car when the gear box became non-responsive. Big surprise and denial since this bike has been babied ever since I own it.
So, I've been informing myself about the issue last night, and would appreciate if you guys can give me a latest update on this :
So, I've been informing myself about the issue last night, and would appreciate if you guys can give me a latest update on this :
- There were several 'service bulletins' on this and an upgrade kit SVC-09-021. Is this still the latest recommendation from Ducati ?
- Could this service bulletin be interpreted as a recall or not ? Will dealerships honor it ? (my bike is a 2004, nearly 20 years old...)
- The other issue is, I'm in Central Oregon, 3 hours away from the closest dealer. I am very handy. Is the upgrade easy to do if I were to buy the special alignment tool ?
