I have one that I bought for my 749. It appears to be ok. Just a straight pipe under the engine. I never used it since after I bought it I got a good deal on a full exhaust. Keep in mind that only eliminates the cat for the horz cylinder. The cat for the vert cylinder is in the muffler.

 

awesome, i already removed the cat from inside the muffler but did know there was another under the bike. how much louder did the exhaust make your bike. youtube doesn't make the bikes sound that much louder.

This. How much noise the bike makes is determined almost entirely by which can you have.

My bike had one of those goofy GPR three muffler setups when I got it...loud to the point that even with good earplugs and a well insulated helmet, it was still loud enough to cause hearing damage. When I had it tuned, the shop said it was one of the loudest bikes they had ever heard. Glad to have it off my bike.

 

what do you guys think about putting a vance and hines ss slip on from a 996 on my 999 (with the modifications needed) would it make it louder but not to loud?

 

i got remus on my 749s and it loud. Now are you wanting a loud bike or a more hp bike. More loud the less back pressure which can make less power. But you can get it tuned for more power. It just depends on your budget

 

The Cat-less exhaust will not make a difference to the sound. Full system would.

Really the only reason I was trying to ditch the stock system was for weight savings. That exhaust with the cat on a xx9 bike is a boat anchor. A good aftermarket system, properly mapped should increase the power a few ponies. If you are just looking for loud, I don't know.

 

Full system is way more quiet than slipons, in fact full system doesnt even require db-killers on the track, while slipon is loud as hell.
999 full system is the most quiet bike around.
Havent checked why, but likely the rear exhaust with slipon is pretty much open to the air.

I have it on my 999 and its loud as heck
Louder than any of my buddies japanese bikes with aftermarket exhausts

 

I've a full Leo Vince system that the previous owner put on. It was unbelievably loud, until I put in the Vince db killers which turned it from deafeningly offensive into merely obnoxious. Now I can turn it on in the morning and not wonder if I'm going to be charged with crimes against humanity.

thanks for the input guys, I'm not trying to have a super loud bike. i would like to make good power too. i just wish my 999 would be as loud as my vance and hines on the 996. i can't hardly hear my 999. granted i have only cored my stock exhaust. might have to see if i can fab up a way to get the slip ons front the 996 on the 999

i was looking to try and find a termi slip on an i heard that you can only buy new from a ducati dealer so i called and asked. sure enough they sell them. is $2000 for a slip on uninstalled sound right? i knew they were expensive buy i thought it was more like $1200

To answer your original question concerning the quality, I just ordered and installed a Mivv cat delete--since LV no longer makes one--on my Hypermotard 796. Anyways, it fits perfect, has quality welds, looks great, and comes with springs and spring sleeves. Don't know if it changed the sound at all; I installed a new Zard slip-on at the same time and 86'd the stock exhaust.
