If we look at the piping and mufflers ONLY and remove the exhaust valve from the equation, is there a substantial difference between the two?

Has anyone compared them closely?

i dont know if the FULL system pipes have bigger diameter from the start, other than that i think that the slip ons are basicaly like a full system, since they dont have a catalitic converter...

Also the shape of the full system pipes might give some extra hp on the upper rpm too but mid range the slip ons have a small advantage though...

> Have been researching this myself, viewed both in person last week- the full system is definitely a larger diameter pipe, and sounds lower and meaner.

> The stock pipes merge into one pipe under the bike, so both exhaust streams pass through the exhaust valve as a single pipe, then split again just before the cans.

> The full system pipes have a different bend and merge/split in an 'X' formation just before the cans, so the two exhaust streams are not flowing through a single pipe diameter for any real distance.

> Service tech at the dealer said that full system increases mid range more than it increases top end. Apparently the exhaust valve is more for noise control/emissions/backpressure. He added that the full system is shaped to give the desired backpressure without the valve present, and the cpu is coded to keep the valve open with the termi slip-ons, whereas it is removed altogether with the full system.

> Trying to decide myself, leaning towards full system, not so much for increased hp (plenty already) but more for the deeper sound and to have one less electronic gizmo (servo/valve) on the bike.

it doesnt have deeper sound, as a matter of fact the slip ons have MUCH deeper sound.
we have 4 fighters in our "team".
the newest member has acrapovic which i havent heard yet.
the one has arata 1098 (springer) and the other full termi. mine has slip ons.
mine has the deaper roar of them all. havent compaired with the acrapovic yet.

I can tell you the power difference is huge with the full system vs the slip,
I've had both on my bike and the hit from about 6000 RPM is much stronger on the full system.

If your bike is tuned properly IE an aftermarket tune, not the DP ECU, the bottom end is about the same for both systems.
I think you loose a little of the low end on the full system with the supplied DP ECU.

I don't know why but I think the slip system was slightly louder than the full system is.
Maybe I just got used to the volume by the time I installed the full system?

both bikes running, just playing with the throttle, slip ons have better deeper sound.

with a aftermarket tune the full system will definately give more hp from mid to high revs...its common sense...! :)
