Arrow Mid Pipe

I was talking to the folks at Motovation about the Arrow mid pipe, they say it is a similar design as the LV midpipe which also has a small resonance chamber. On their website they do have a good comparison video of the Stock exhaust (with CAT) vs a LV Midpipe + Termi Shorty.

Certainly it is louder than stock, but they measured the Db on the video and it was only about 1 Db louder. So I also am very interested in this Arrow midpipe, I want to keep my termi shorty more just for looks as it does suit well the PP model (except for the silver heat sheild, that thing is history and a new carbon fibre heat sheild is on its way from Greece). Just holding off on pulling the Arrow midpipe trigger to see if anyone posts a video of it installed.

I'm not worried about a ECU remap as I have Tuneboy and can drop in some mid pipe trim files in a few minutes.

Quick Question about de-cat

If i have a completely stock MTS1200 12' and i do a cat delete (thinking dan moto) but keep the stock muffler end can, do i need to do a re-flash or some type of fuel enrichment or will i be safe from any problems? i ask because all my Japanese super-sports are fine with exhaust and air upgrades without a power commander type device but i have never done it on a twin and a euro one to be more specific.

YMMV but...

My experience is based on my 2013 MTS but I believe that it is applicable to your 2012 MTS. First off, the "stock muffler end can" are really not mufflers at all, just bling, the muffler is actually the Cat, so using your decat with stock muffler end can will be very very LOUD.

Yes the bike will run fine after decating, especially after about 300Km as the O2 probes trim the bike low rpm for you, but you will get a better result with a re map (rexxer or tuneboy etc). Recommend sticking with the standard air filter unless you do re map.

YMMV

OK thanks for the quick reply, im kinda bummed the stock can doesn't baffle much i really like the way it looks. i saw some companies selling o2 emulators? does that help richen it up or is that just bandaging a bigger problem that a remap would solve? i will stick with the oem air filter

Take off the "muffler" and your bike will sound no different than with it on, almost.

Just stop wasting your time and search efforts and go Spend $2,000.oo + on a TERMI system and get it over with!
There I said it.
Money well spent, along with getting the garden tractor wheels chromed.

Don't try to justify the expense, just go get what you want.
Don't try to explain it to the Significant Other, Just more time wasted.

Owning a Ducati is not about saving money.

Have some Fun.
Do it for yourself YOU DESERVE a Selfish spending spree.

Termis with the baffle in is an not obnoxious loud bike, has an allin one box with all you need! Simple expensive and very satisifying .

Couple of things. OP, going forward, please use the search button up at the top of the page (or google), there are many, many threads already on the topic. Have a read thru this or one of the other decat threads to find the answer you're looking for. Thanks! ;)

Secondly, to be clear,, the catalytic converter does not reside in the muffler/end can but rather on its own, It is an integral part of the exhaust system and the bike 's tune, without it the motor will run differently/less well (air/fuel ratio). As the Corsa points out, a fueling mod is usually necessary to help the motor run as it should. That or stick with a full exhaust kit that comes with its own ECU as Scott suggests.

Scott does have a good point but also consider that for about 50-60% of the cost of the full termi, I have a Decat (SC Project with CF Muffler) ReMapp (Tune Boy) Quick shifter (tuneBoy) Cruise Control (tuneBoy) High Flow air filter (MWR) and Tuneboy is about to release a free software upgrade that will add Launch Control as well.

Spend wisely young Padawon

The way I see it, if your bike had very good fueling before the decat there is a good chance that the fueling will still be good after the decat. At least in my case its like that. When the bike was new the fueling was very bad. It basically stopped at 8.500 rpms. Went to the dealer to complain and they gave me a new map. After that the fueling was very good. Amazingly good. Recently installed an Arrrows mid pipe and Akra slip on and the bike runs even better than before. Fueling is still spot on. I know enough about engines to say that I don't need to do anything about it. I am not arguing that it could be even better but I am not going to bother.

What was a new/improved map that dealer gave you?

Emma at Tuneboy says there should be a sale before Christmas , I will get tuneboy remapp+CC and QS , on the fence about the nudge buttons .

cheap

at the current exchange rate they are only about US$50 (and a pre Christmas sale?), handy little bit of bling for the price. I spend more on oil for the bike.

\ Will accommodate the center stand and has the resonance chamber unlike all the other options out there.

Im failing to see how this mid pipe accommodates the center stand? You mean, it can be installed and left to ding the actual pipe? Because there is no bump stop to "accommodate anything with.

I live in Calgary , Canada so our dollar is pretty much on par with the Australian dollar .
