I finally got all the parts and time to put this bit of kit on. Great minds think alike and I'm partial to the EBC HH pads and Motul brake fluid shown in the video. The most painful part of the whole project is of course tearing her apart and putting her back together. I took her out for a little jaunt and man those brakes are great! I'm still bedding in the pads but the initial feel is awesome.

Differences in my install: Podium Racing Online (ebay store) supplied the drilled titanium caliper bolts, titanium rotor bolts, and titanium front axle nut. I'm also running EBC Vee rotors. After each track day/spirited ride I spent way too much time scrubbing the rotors (with both EBC and Ferodo pads). Too old for that nonsense. I'm sure rotors from Brake Tech etc. would solve the issue as well....

Is the ABS unit made by Bosch? I found a Bosch ABS "kit" where they offered free software to interface to that kits parts. It has the bleed routines for linked and non linked ABS. If one knew the protocol and commands, they could make a dedicated device to trigger those bleed routines. I can do some microprocessor programming, but I have no idea what the comms are to that ABS unit. I've got to wonder how many out there have air in them, or old fluid trapped in the middle of the system so to speak. I don't see how going out and simply skid-activating the ABS would push any (much) air out, especially if the rest of the system is all buttoned up with clean new fluid. What I gathered from that kits docs is the slave bleed valves were opened to run the routine. Presumably so it can push fresh fluid through the system.

Following the lead from the Canyon Chasers YouTube video (which was outstanding!) I just ordered the Spiegler brake line kit (I went with titanium fittings/banjos). I had a really dumb question about the M50 calipers. I searched a bunch of different sites and they all seem to come in around $800, but this one site (ChromeBurner) has the M50 calipers for only $530. How is that possible? Has anyone ever ordered from them? I know that they are in Denmark, but the price listed is in dollars not euros. And they do include pads. It will take a bit longer to get here, but that's a pretty significant savings (almost covers the cost of the lines). Am I missing anything?

So all my parts came in. I am about halfway through the install. I followed the CanyonDancer Video to the tee. There was some question if the lines would be the same length for a 2013 as they are for a 2012 and they seem to be fine. I haven’t tightened anything up yet, but I think it will work fine. I did have to twist the banjos to get a clean alignment. The 2013 ABS control unit appears to look a little different, but I don’t think it will be an issue. Here are some photos so far:

You do have to remove the front wheel otherwise you can’t get a torque wrench on the banjo bolts. And be prepared to fight with that front mud flap install! [emoji35]. Also, I ordered the exact same lines that CC used on their 2012 MTS 1200, but mine is a 2013 and am not sure if it has something to do with the linked braking, but the stock ABS banjo bolts have a 90-degree fitting. To make the line work, I just had to re-route it from the ABS box.

Here are some photos of today’s progress.
