2018 Multistrada 1260s

Dealer is telling me the front tire treads are worn and want to replace the tire. I strictly ride street/highways and no offroading. Currently have Pirelli Scorpions. What are some good tire recommendations?

While I love my Angel GT2 rear tire, I'm not a fan of the front GT2's. The grooves in the center of the tire cause instability at anything above 30 on the highways around the San Diego region because they have waves in the road, and this causes the bike to not feel planted. I'll be switching off that tire as soon as I burn through this one. If your highways don't have the little waves/ridges in them, I wouldn't worry too much.

When you say you go fast, I'm assuming you place the premium on grip and not mileage. You didn't say what part of Texas , but I like the stock Pirelli scorpion trail 2 because the grip in wet and water extraction is excellent. I like the physical evidence of being able to evacuate the water at high speed so I really like the stock tire.
I have angel GT's on my VFR and they are also excellent. Several riders have the Michelin Road 5 and they really like them.

I don’t honestly think tire choice can give you quantifiable differences in mileage on a motorcycle/may be negligible. I haven’t been able to ever understand the difference in feel between different tires. I’ve had a Harley, an s1000r, and my Multi.

Conti Road Attacks 3s, best all-round tire on the market, i run Conti Trail attack 3s on my 950S, far superior over the scorpions, especially in wet/damp conditions, and ball up like sports tires when pushed hard, run these on my Multi and S22's on my 1290R for track days and road riding.

Used the stock Pirellis (90-/10's) for a bit, good on seal but a bit too loose once off it.
Went to Michelin Anakee Wilds (50-50's), got the opposite, OK off seal a bit loose on seal. Over all these just didn't make me happy in any way, very disappointed with them.
Now running Metzeler Karoo3's (75-25's) and do like them a lot. Good off seal and more than good enough to give it some on the seal, situation willing of course.
Got a set of Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR's in the bank.

The bike - 2021 950S Endruo. Spends 2/3rds of it's mileage on seal, 1/3 off it, usually dirt roads but also sees sand, gravel, mud and grass.
The rider - Doesn't give a rats about tyre cost or trying to stretch mileage as they are key things that in the big scheme are cheap.

I'm swapping to Road5's but only as I'm going to use the Multi for an IronButt1000 which will be all on seal. Once done I'll quickly be back to the Karoo's or maybe the STR's as I'm often off the seal. I have Road5's on my Versys1000 and CBR750, they are my 'go to' road tyre.

But as soon as you are off the seal the R5's become a liability so you need to consider whether you'll ever want to leave the seal, if you do then maybe R5's aren't the best option.

Late to the party....+1 on the M9..if your an all weather rider....lthe wet grip is more than impressive...if your a hell for leather corner guy...it will not be as fast as any other tire in the corner...in the dry...but you can hike it over to the edge in the wet...if your brave enough...I too can't say anything about the mileage...but they're slow wearing so far...feels like a 5k mile tire

i just swapped out my road 4’s for road 5’s and took a trip to the mountains this weekend. Had a mix of weather, dry roads, wet roads, a bit of hard rain, etc.. The 5’s performed very well. I got them hot enough in the dragon and cherohala to get balled up a bit, they never squirmed. Still maintained a fairly spirited pace when wet, and they never moved. Definitely the tire to get. I had as much confidence in them as I’ve had on pilot powers or dunlop qualifiers in the past on sport bikes.

edit.. and this was riding two up the whole time.

I've got 70+K on my '11 Multi. I've run several different tires, Pirelli, Michelin PR3, 4, 5s, and Dunlop Roadsmart IIIs (three sets). Of all the tires I've tried on the Multi, the Roadsmart's have been the best as far as consistency goes when it comes feel and confidence throughout the life of the tire. I've averaged about 6500 miles on the Dunlop's compared to about 5500 on the PRs (I think I pushed the PR5's to 6K). Just came across this article about the Roadsmart IVs... Looking forward to giving them a go after I get through this set of RS IIIs.

Majority of my riding on the Multi is for pleasure, so very little flat straight roads if I can help it. A lot of Hwy 1 on the Big Sur coast in CA between Cambria and Carmel.

I put Roadsmart IV's on this spring. (I'm a fan of Dunlops, previously had a Tuono and really like the Dunlop Q3+)
Just got back from a 4 day, 1900 miles trip. (tail of the dragon, cherohola skyway, Moonshiner28 amongst some others) At least 500 of those were wet miles. They currently have 48xx mile on the set. They look like they will go another 4k miles.
I'm really happy with the performance, they stick like glue and provide plenty of feedback. Confidence inspiring!

I'm riding a 2013 MT1200. I've run several sets of the roadsmarts, as well as Angel GT's, Metzeler Roadtec's, and prob a couple others. I can never seem to get more than 4k on a rear tire. I'm amazed by some of the miles people on here claim to get. I'm always solo rider, usually pump to 36psi, and other than a couple of pounds of stuff and maybe a spare shirt my bags are empty. I'm 205lbs and a fair rider, but no track experience or anything like that. I'm riding mountain roads mostly in central to Western NC and would LOVE to get 6K miles out of a back tire. Am wondering if I'll do better with Michelin, Road 5's or 6's. Anyone want to tell me how they're getting good mileage? I have my traction control set to the highest level (learned that lesson on first couple rear tires). Open to ideas, thanks.

I'm on Road 6's on my 2022 PP, about 2500 miles on this set since i put them on this fall. 35psi front, 36psi rear. I don't do any offroad (that is what the dirt bike is for) and ride spirted solo on back country twisty roads. I'm 155lbs in birthday suit. So far very impressed. Had 2 sets of Pirelli Rossi IVs before and could never get more than 3500-4k miles out of a set. I hope to get 6k out of these Road 6s. I'll go out on a limb and say the Road 6 has about 90% of the dry grip of the Rosso IVs.
