As mentioned above, it really does depend on the specific tire design, and riding environment. There is no single correct answer, unless you stick with the OE tires and ride only on the street, in which case the pressures are printed in your user manual.

As Jeff implies above, if you plan to ride on the track, you should speak with the tire rep, preferably one at the trackside, who will advise the pressures for that specific tire and condition.

i just asked a simple question, didn't care what brand, just wanted to see what the average psi was. Word.
For everything other than some of the stiff carcass DOT race (street legal) tires, you would generally be OK with the 30-34 psi front and 30-36 psi rear on the street, depending on tire.

I wouldn't run Pilot Race rears at that pressure though, as they're design for 22-23 psi in the rear. Some of the other newer DOT race type tires are similar. I'd run something like 28 psi max in these on the street, if I really had to run them, as they are very stiff already and ripples/sharp bumps mid corner can be an issue with high psi, IMO.

I personally prefer good street tires on the street, such as the Pilot Power std or 2CT, Qualifiers or Corsa Diablo III. I'd run in the low 30's on the street for any of these. YMMV.
