Fueling, O2 sensors, closed loop inadequacies... the bike is a 2014 Hyper SP that I'm doing my best to work through all the inherent problems. What are your thoughts or experiences?

Depends where you live. If you're close to a tuner than can do your bike it's the best bet. No canned tune can beat a custom one. But as Jeff noted, make sure everything is perfect before going there.
If like me you're far from everything, and have to DIY, you have some choice.

Sending your ecu to a rexxer shop (I think motowheels offer the service not sure)
Or piggyback units like rapidbike or dynojet with autotune.
