Most stands you can change the pin, the bearings are the same in both and they're held in place with a circlip so that's an option but yes, you definitely need to use the correct diameter pin

Roger that! Ordered the damn stand new in the right size rather than mucking around with replacing the pin on the used one that was eyeing on. I have to do belt change and fork servicing during the winter, so these (+ the front head lift) are going to come in handy I suppose. I have come to hate the idea of leaving the bike on side stand in the garage, over the last few months that I have owned the bike.

 

good call, they take up less room on a stand and they're less prone to getting bumped and knocked over, i always park mine on a rear stand.

 

Can anyone tell me what size spindle I need for a Multistrada 1260S.

 

I think pins are really inexpensive but if you want to email me, I will make you a correct size pin if you can get some dimensions with a caliper. I made mine for two stands. Doesn't take much time at all.
