I think I know what everyone will say, but have to ask the dumb questions. I got this stand used and it works great on my monster. however, i would like to use it on my 748.

Here's a link for reference:

This lift uses a pin to slip into the hole found on the bottom of a triple tree to prop up the front of the bike. Question is can I use it on a bike like the 748, 916, 999, xx9 where no hole exists.

If not, has anyone modified stands like this to work on their bikes without the hole?

I was basically thinking of modifying some scrap metal to work as a brace that would slip over the pin and would create a more stable base for the bottom of the triple tree to rest on.

Another solution might be to use some nylon straps or tie-downs and wrap them around the stand and the bottom triple tree to secure them together.

thoughts?

stability is a non-issue here...

Just an FYI - I have a Pitbull rear stand for the 748 that is pretty much rock solid steady. So placing this front stand under the triple will serve it's purpose of lifting the front end.

My challenge is keeping the front secure against the stand. As the rear end is very stable there's no chance of the front sliding left or right as long as I can keep the front stand stable beneath the triple tree. A nylon strap should do the trick yes?

theory vs. practice

okay,

i see now that the actual act of leveraging the stand to lift the front places almost 100% of the stress on the actual pin itself. So, my only option now is

a - break down and buy a t-rex, powerstand or pitbull

b - fashion a brace that could wrap around the lower triple that would fit w/ stand.

any opinions here?
