VERY NICE Daniel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are my new hero. ;)

I just bought a 748/996 frame I plan to modify to fit a teste motor and add an 848 into it. That of course when I get the other projects done. :D

Did you take more pics during the build? Did you have to modify engine mounts or cut / weld the frame to get it to fit? Those intakes look HUGE! Road test yet to get a feel for stability? What exhaust did you cram in there?

I'm predicting this to be a quite popular thread. Nice work Daniel!

Pics were taken just the other day. It's still a work in progress. My 916 engine died and this seemed to be the logical progression. The exhaust is the Termignoni 70mm full system. It fits (barely) and will take a little adjusting. I was going to use my 916 frame but I traded it for a 998 frame. Basically made a whole new bike. If the 748/996 is 2000 or '01 I believe the bolt holes will be 12mm (as the 998 and all new SBK's). The 998 frame required NO modification to fit the 1098 engine. If you use the 748/996 frame I'm sure you will have issues fitting the throttle bodies. See pic.

The front velocity stack is pretty close to the frame, but I'm working on fabbing a custom airbox for it. Also, 1098's hold the injectors in the airbox lid so I'll have to cook up something else (ala 748r or 998)

1098 radiator, oil cooler, ecu, wiring, and dash. Basically I'm transplanting the whole 1098 into a 998 frame. There's a guy in the U.K. who is doing a 1098/998 build with a 998 ecu/harness and a power commander, but I'm not sure how his progress is coming.

Wow that is a great swap... I am glad to see that basic hot rodding techniques is alive and well in the Ducati community. We did a swap like this in my Mustang, 04 Cobra engine into 96 GT and the cool factor let alone the performance of a modern engine into an older platform is really neat. Can't wait to see the finished product. Great job....

It might be a flexi flyer, but then again assuming the 998 f02 had similar HP to a stock 1098 then the 998 frame should be able to accomodate the power.

The weak link would probably end up being the rear shock and swingarm (although I think that might be a corse swingarm he's got on there...)

916 donor wheels, suspension and brakes. The subframe is 998 bip (I had the alu p8 mono subframe on the 955, but I want 2 seats)

The 70mm Termignoni system fits without too much tweaking. You run into fitment issues with the rear sets and brake cylinder, but nothing insurmountable.
