Do you guys think it would ever be possible to find a Sport Classic Bi-posto with a reasonable amount of mileage in the $7-8,000 price range?

I know that these bikes are continually appreciating in value... but, would you think it plausible?

disclaimer: I'm not an idiot who doesn't know what these bikes are running for. haha.

thanks!

I found one for less than $7k at the end of last year, a black S1k biposto. At a Harley dealer in Florida (so I had to ship it to CA) who took it as a trade in, and had no idea about Ducatis in general (see erichan's comment). They threw it up on ebay (listed as a GT) for cheap buy it now just to move it. So yes it's possible. But it took over 6 months of looking to find that. And I keep an eye on the market for them, I've never seen that type of deal again.
Good luck!

A buddy of mine picked up a PS about 2 years ago at a local Harley dealership for $7500.00. Talk about ripping their arms off..... Low mileage. They had no idea what they were selling. :D

Yes it is possible, just have to watch local sales closely, one will pop up but you have to react quick. I saw a great deal on a thursday morning before leaving for work, was in contact with seller by 10am and had a deposit on it before 6pm. Can't fuck around, chatting, asking to many questions. Have to get to it, see it and put $$$ down. Followed this pattern with both of my Sport 1000 purchases one had 45 miles on it, the other 900 (did not really have to worry about "what kind of shape are they in") and total investment for both is less than $16k. Maybe just right time right place but I pulled it off twice, so can you.

Wow

Don't discount the salvage option either:2008 Ducati Sport Clas Cert Of Title-Salvage Title Motorcycle for sale in Minneapolis, MN at Copart Auto Auction Lot 16685222

Granted it'll be a salvage title and worth less at resale, but it's an opportunity none the less. And the repair bill might be listed quite high, but if you do the work yourself it'll be cheaper, and take the opportunity to just replace busted parts with better stuff equipment that you would have wanted down the line anyway
looks like the muffler and the handle bars took all the impact...thats a deal someone should jump on this... hell i just want the tank...

Yea I mean I would definitely try and find out if the frame and swing arm are straight, but other than that all of the damage is pretty cosmetic. I bet the steering stop is bent, but that isn't necessarily a deal breaker.

Seems like ebay is flooded with SC's these days. Some are listed with sub-$10k starting prices and get very few bids. Others listed at > $10k starting prices get no bids. Could the SC's have reached their height in popularity and prices? Will we see lower prices next summer? There is a 1098 SF for sale in the classified for $11.5k which is a lot more bike than an SC for the same price

There does seem to be a lot of people trying to capitalize on higher prices for the used SCs, and they're getting a little ambitious with the prices. My favorite is the GT with a starting bid of $13.5k and a reserve somewhere higher, with the guy claiming the GT is actually faster than the other SCs... I don't think there is a bubble though, because for the most part these bikes aren't selling, they get relisted and finally sell for around $10k ($8k for GTs).

The Streetfighter I'm sure is a technically better bike, but it's never going to hit all the same points that make the SC so popular. If anything, those transformer-looking naked bikes that most manufacturers do are what give the SC it's popularity as an alternative that actually looks like a motorcycle
