Will Ducati actually make a new streetfighter?

Now that the new V4 engine is out, I sure hope so. I've watched a youtube video where the guy asked an engineer if they will and the engineer seemed like he was trying to dodge it but it seemed like there was something in the works.

I was going to buy a Monster 1200 S soon but I think I'll hold off for another year or two in the hopes that they do.

You never know but I highly doubt they will. I would give it the same chance of KTM building a new Superbike.

I would prefer a 16-17k$ SF with a 1299 engine than an over priced tuono.

The narrower v2 is a much better engine for a SF. Who need 200hp on a bike without wind protection?

IMO, Tuono has adequate wind protection for 180 hp. Ducati could do something along those lines. It's possible to enjoy the benefits of 200 hp w/o going 150 mph+

More power but with nanny electronics that tame the power down, I don't see the point.

a 1098sf will flip 180 degres easily in the first 3 gears if you're not careful.

I guess if people want a v4 in every Ducati bikes I'll have to go with ktm.

anti locking, anti wheelie, anti spin, anti lean. Naked bike or streetfighter ia all about anti those anti things. Crouched bike tolerates more power but an upright bike is wheelie prone and if you tame that with electronics you are good with much less power.
Also think about the cost. Let's say they shave 2k$ from the panigale, that would get you a base SF for 22k and the S for 28-30k?

Tuono is around 15k base and 18k factory?

And what about the exhausts? 5k for a termi kit? No thanks.

I would do a 1198 SF instead, dry clutch, and add all the electronics gizmos. A v2 is beautiful naked, where on a v4 you're seeing a bunch of exhaust piping.
The prices are a little out of control... but apparently there are a lot of wealthy people out there (see Ferrari's performance in stock market).

On the electronics... I appreciate them. They enhance my riding experience the better they get. My only misgivings arise when the warranty period is about to end...
People buy Super Dukes. I don't see why Ducati couldn't make a new streetfighter for around that price.

Looking at the price for the base V4 panigale and assuming they detuned the engine and didn't have all the bleeding edge electronic aids, it seems that an 18-19k streetfighter is doable.
Makes sense... like the Tuonos and the RSV4s...
All I have to say is, Ducati build it! Then shut up and take my money!
I'm usually the first guy to say that high RPM race engines do NOT make good naked bike material. But I'm open minded to this concept for Ducati. I love my streetfighter and I love my Tuono Factory. I'm a guy who wants superbike performance in a standard bike configuration. Here's the rub; A naked is not a track weapon and the goal is not always to get around a track as fast as possible, in fact on a hyper naked sometimes you want to ride like a hooligan spinning tires and crackin wheelies... So I dont think the latest in motogp track derived electronics are all that important. I also want to see this bike deliver more torque and less high rpm HP - 125 ft lbs of torque and 175 HP would get the old juices flowing! And PLEASE Ducati, do not try to make the bike more stable by stretching it or raking it - give us that same superbike geometry that makes the new V4 pani so spectacular.

I have too many hyper naked bikes as it is right now and I love the bikes that I have so a new SF from Ducati would have to be very special to get me to sell one of mine and buy new, but if they did it just right I could see myself buying my first new Duc since 2011...

Here's a rendering that has been bopin around the webs. I think an update might be in order (with a bit of wind protection like the Tuono) but even in the old SF guise it looks pretty sweet!

That looks pretty good. I like it. But in the real world there’s going to be wires and hoses running all over the place that screw it up. That’s my main beef with most water cooled naked bikes.

I'm good with my SFS. I love it the way it is.

The new v4 is (like for the pani) using the engine as chassis and it is pretty ugly without fairing. I think they can't have a nice trellis frame with this engine generation...:frown2:
SFS V4 would be far fetched. Probably slap the new 1260 Stroodle motor in it and call it.
They also need to make it so its designed to fit anyone bigger than a Hobbit.

No good all that shit if you look like a Gorilla on a Tricycle

I can just about get away with it on the SF but only just & that because ive lost some weight. Honestly the best money spent was to get my arse into gear & stop eating shit.

No amount of cash to throw at the bike would make it as fast as me losing 4 inches off my waist. Downside is new leathers & wardrobe

The Super Naked market is pretty big currently with all the main players having a crack so hopefully we see a new Streetfighter....

....but I'm not holding my breath
