You should see a force reduction of about 15%. This is because the earlier MC has a bore of 13mm, but the post-2000 model year bikes have a MC bore of 12mm.

If you add a larger (28.5mm max) slave to either MC you'll see (about) an additional 15% reduction.

Both solutions require a longer lever stroke to disengage the clutch, however.

I defer to Shazaam's technical knowledge, but I can say I had a good experience with 999 masters on my 1999 900SS with an Evoluzione slave and 999 4-pad calipers. Top notch set up right there!

You would see a noticable difference in the lever by just changing the slave cylinder. I would try that first and then go from there.

I agree, and ordered the Oberon slave cylinder, which was delivered earlier today. I have now fitted it and will try it out when it stops raining.
