Where EXACTLY do you measure the chain deflection from?

I've looked around and from what I've been able to glean, you have to order the entire kit, with the c-spanner and all that. I have a metal ruler where the mm starts right from the end, so it works fine, I just needed to make sure I'm measuring from the right place.

If someone really wants to help though: I would appreciate if someone could put their gauge in place, and then make an accurate measurement to confirm that the notch is in fact 35mm from the big flat part of the swing arm (and not any part of the chain guide, which is the black "flange" screwed to the bottom of the swing arm).

Confirming this would do a lot to put my mind at ease. Thanks!

Nope. Part number 69710351A, $5.40 plus shipping.

EDIT: although that P/N is for the 2015, I believe. The slack measurement is different that what you state applies to your 2013. My bike, a 2016 S, says 38-40mm in Urban mode, preload level 1.

Interesting! I may have to give that number to the dealer next time I make an order.

I measured mine at about 42 mm from the bottom of the flat part of the swing arm. This makes sense since when I adjusted it last, it was about 37 mm from the bottom of the chain guide flat part. So I hauled out the tools and adjusted it, now it's measuring about 37 mm from the bottom of the swing arm. I prefer to err on the side of looseness.

I'd still appreciate an actual measurement of the tool. If someone could put a ruler beside it while it's attached to the bike, that would be ideal.
