Hi there . Yes it is a water temp sensor ,but in this application it monitors engine air temp it doubles up at doing both jobs these are fitted in many british cars monitoring water temp, it tell the ecu on the 750 ss ie what fuel rate required at a certain temp of the engine i have just changed mine and has fixed my flooding of fuel when the engine was hot, bosch part no 0280130026, I have found the best way to change it is to remove the horizontal inlet valve cover then remove circlip from sensor holder then unscrew from holder and change for new, just roadtested all seems ok starts on the button now when hot. bye for now
