Howdo!!

Well finally got my headers done by Mark Hill of MHP and he's done a superb job, will stick a few pics up soon.

So with the MWR filter and headers done it was up to see Chris at CJS
http://cjsracing.co.uk/
Removed the PCIII and set about remapping the ECU.........what a result the bike really does have that extra Ooooomph at the top end.
Bike made 123Bhp and 78lb of torque :D
Chris reckoned more would be possible with more lift, however no performance cams available. To be truthful happy with the bike.

Cheers Pablo

Howdo Again!!!

Only thing that has been a downside with this project has been under hard acceleration (When not wheeling) the bike can get a bit of a wobble on (Reminds me of my old ZXR750H1).
Suspension was all spot on along with head races, alignment, pressures etc The bike steers very quickly compared to standard (Which I like) so this has seen the introduction of an Ohlins steering damper (Of Flea bay), I've located it so its hidden by the half fairing. Yet to try - but need to also get the damper serviced/checked.

Other minor thing was when I fitted the billet Brembo clutch master cylinder I lost the full travel of the lever due just catching on the ST3 switchgear. So that lead to a set of lovely Titax levers which solved the problem and added a bit of bling!

So just waiting on fairings then it's paint......Red? Yellow? or Black???

Cheers Pablo

Copy your swap? Have you already fitted a ST3 motor? Be interested to see how you got on. As for copy didn't copy anyone .......started in 2008 and still not quite finished.

Been swapping these since 2001. I'm just glad that someone else is now breathing new light into the best looking bikes.

What part are you stuck at now?
Waiting on some carbon half fairings (No indicator cut out) hopefully here this week then I can finally paint the bike and she should be more or less done.............apart from the odd bit of bling.

Red? Yellow? or Black???
Hi PP. Your bike is just a yellow bike. I dont think it would look as good if you painted it any other colour.

Keep up the sensational work.

What headers did you have before? Those are great #'s for an St3 based motor.

Im at 99.6/66.4 basically stock.

Alright Rob,

Bike had a full Sil-motor (45mm) race system when I had the 2-valve engine, had to modify the front and rear headers to connect to the 4 stud configuration on the ST3 cylinder heads. Also had lambda bungs fitted for the re-map. Very light system and gives good power all the way through the range.

Very impressive, i always thought the St3 headers looked pretty small and by the shape of the stock torque curve, it seems the 3 valve motor is choke up some on the top end breathing.

Since having the ECU re-mapped and fitting the MWR filter the bike really revs out (Even extended the rev limit to 10,000).
Just need another set of barrels and bore the engine out! :D

Hey Pablo,

Long time no speak. How is it going?

Any news on your bike? In case you haven't painted the panels yet I'd choose yellow (keep the original colour of the bike ;) ).

I take it the engine's bottom end is all stock, right? I bet with a pair of Ti rods you could rev it even higher (if that's what you're after). As for cams, there are a few cam specialists that build one-off cams (in Italy there are a few, need to check my list). Maybe you could order your own "made to measure" cams...:cool::D:D

Last one: don't you have any issues with water from the front wheel now that you're using the new air-filter?

Howdo Engakats!

Filter has been fine (Currently making a PUK so that I can have a go at making a carbon airbox).
The bottom end is balanced with standard rods (They are slightly stronger than the SS rods allowing the higher rev ceiling - so I'm told). However the bike revs like a goodun!
As for paint I think I will go with red as I have a full set of yellow Superlight body work?????Mmmmmmmh still in 37 minds.....maybe black???
Winter will see Cerma-chrome on the headers, re-valved rear shock & steering damper, new tyres , oh and another wiring loom.
Got a carbon rear number plate holder, will have to make a new battery holder to use this though.
After all that there is -
Slipper clutch, perspex clutch cover, re-valved forks, big bore, cams, machined gear wheels, p-34 Billet rear caliper, ti- rods.........dear Santa :D

Also weighed the bike with a full tank 167kg (Think that's 19litres = 13kg of fuel), as a comparison my GSXR-K5 1000 weighed in at 200kg.

How's the 1000DS?? Anymore mods/pics? And how's Madrid? Always fancied going there. I hope to get the bike finished by July as I'm gonna take it for a spin to the Ducati factory - another tick in the box!

Have a good Christmas!!

Hi PP,
I still think the personality of your bike is yellow. Looks great with the black fork lowers etc. I've been waiting for you to post some pics of your new headers/paintjob; guess the weather's not so conducive to getting all that stuff done.
Anyway you have a good Christmas too buddy.
Cheers, Hame

Howdo Hame!

Loving the work on your bike!! Oh and I want a 1000DS Swingarm!!!

Yellow does look good with the black frame........however there is just little touches of red that came with certain parts...........BST have painted red stripe, red adjusters on forks & lettering. Oh me OCD!!!!!!!!!!!

Would really like Black but that's going to be the paint on the next project bike ;)

Red!!!.........................or maybe Yellow? S%$t!!!

First need to find a sprayer that can convert my idea into reality.

Have a crackin Christmas!!!

Cheers Pablo

Ha ha ha. Thanks mate. I'm not really telling everyone, (not even the bike) because it may not happen for a long time or even at all, but do you know what the bike got for Christmas? A set of Ohlins R&T forks. (All *I* got was a $10 key-ring!) Of course it's all the 'other bits' (discs, calipers, master cylinders) that are the real kicker.

I can't believe you are still vacillating over the colour choice, it must be torturing you! :D Reminded me to tell you, I put an alert on Trade Me (Kiwi eBay) for a 1000DS swingarm for you. You never know eh.

Have a good one!
