It's been said that DNA will not cover expanding gas tanks that heve been sealed. Any truth to this?

I just replaced my tank on my 1000 S and got it coated guys in a local-ish shop (i live in BFE) said the same thing...something about mod'ing factor equ will void the agreement... that said I went to another local-ish shop and they said no worries. any insight you get will be most helpful...
