Another trick is to buy silk hiking socks from a good outdoors store such as REI. Silk socks worn as liners under lightweight wool socks wick away moisture from your feet and keep you comfy in hot or cold weather.
I got these from New Enough for Christmas and so far, so good. Comfy, vents, can wear leathers inside or jeans over, not to 'racer-y', big thumbs up. $200.
+1 on Sidi's I have vertabra race, wear a coolmax sock with a thicker over sock and in SoCal heat my feet have always been comfy. Though my calf still gets cooked!
