I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue and could offer some advice. The tach on my 98 supersport is reading really high. At idle it reads just over 2000rpms, at 65mph in 6th gear it shows 8000rpms?
I removed the cable, cleaned and lubed, but no change. Any ideas?

Mystery solved. A ground from the engine case had become disconnected. Ground cleaned and re-attached -tach seems normal again.
