hey guys, i just got a 2000 996 and i was trying to find out where the vin is at. im pretty sure the plastics are not the stock ones so i was wondering if there were any other spots that its at on the bike? I looked it up a bit and apparently there is suppose to be one on the kickstand side on the oil pan. its not 17 digits on mine though... its SB5Y011370 thanks for the help, just tryin to find some history on my bike

on a 2000 should be located on the steering head tube of the frame, ie right below the top triple clamp on the right side(I think the right side, but could be left, I'm going on memory). It's hard to read because the numbers are made up of a series of dots stamped into the tube.
