Vemar Helmets

apparently, Vemar helmets (made in Italy) are no longer readily available in the US. Too bad. After three decades of helmets ranging from Bell to Simpson to Shoei to Arai, the Vemar is the best helmet I've ever owned. They are light and never fog up. A bit loud if you don't use ear plugs. Great protection according to many on line write-ups and well made.

Wow, I hadn't heard that. Any idea why?

I'm glad I got mine when I did. It works great for me and yes, it's sure nice to have a visor that doesn't fog at all.
I heard from the folks at Motoemporium the other day re: Vemar. They said that a company called Fairchild (?) took over distribution and they don't know what is happening with the Vemar line. I think this company is located in CA. That's about all I know. If the motorcycling public ever "gets it" about Vemar, Shoei and Arai are in big trouble.

vemar helmets have just started turning up here in australia

naturally no-ones ever heard of them and they are priced cheapish - cheaper than shoei or arai's, similar to hjc or perhaps kbc

are they a good helmet as people here say they are ????

cheers dave
Strange, because I have seen Vemar helmets in two motorcycle shops in two different States in the last month. Maybe leftovers, but they both had several.

I have three now. I have the Carbon Fiber VSRC 800.00, paid 300.00, VSR Diadem gloss black 400.00 + new bought it for 80.00 barely used, and a Vemar VPS-R matte black free from a friend in the UK. I love them and I was told that they were a little pricey for the American market and since no one knew of the marque here they subsequently failed to sell. Now that you guys are getting them in Austrailia I may have to get a VSREV Italy model through a friend. Great helmets, fit me well but are a little noisy at speeds of 70 MPH and up. The cheek pads are very plush too.

I am in the long oval catagory. Hope this helps you. There are some deals on Silver VSR's out there in size Euro 59/Large 99.00; thats my size. The carbon fiber VSRC's are a tad looser on my head than the regular VSR helmet. The latest one (glossy black) I got fits me like a glove.

Well, I sell Vemar and nobody has told me that I would be able to get them in the US anymore?

I have been to the main supplier page http://www.vemar-usa.com/ and its been down for months. Fairchild Sports was the original distributor for Vemar. I got to looking around in case I needed spare parts. Kneedraggers blew out their remaining stock on Vemar helmets last year when they were told there would be no more helmets coming into the US. Maybe you have a different supplier than them or some of the closeout places I have seen? If you do let me know I would like to order a VSREV "Italy" helmet in the near future.

I see you have a few Vemars on your site. Thats great! Carry the visors please I had to order the last one from the UK.

I doubt you will sell too many of your carbon fiber VSR's for that price after everyone (retailers/eBay) was selling them at $300.00 to $400.00 last year. I paid a touch over 300.00 for mine.

My helmets come from Canada :D I've only got a few listed on my site, but can get any helmet from Vemar.

My Vemar is the best fitting helmet I ever had, until I tried on the new Arai Profile. That helmet is really nice, but also commands a lot more $$.

Tony
yeah, I think the Vemar helmet is a really great fit and comfortable to me. I'm trying to figure out which one to get for this upcoming season. My last helmet took a bit of a fall so I'm replacing it soon.
Desmo, check you pm. I need a visor for my Vemar.
they have a very advanced manufacturing technique which makes them supposedly stronger and lighter at the same time... something about even spreading of construction material. Crashed with my carbon vemar and it held up fine (didn't hit head hard)... good for rounder head it felt like... I have long oval head and had pressure points in front and back, little loose on sides.

You could always add a little foam to the sides to get a little snugger fit if the next size down would be too small. I've had to do that to a couple of helmets since I have a weird shaped head apparently.
