Is there a preferred method, other than replacement, for revitalizing the velcro on boots? Can you just trim the "fuzzy" side down to make it stick better?

A wire brush helps to rejuvinate the nap. I used a wire pet grooming brush and it worked like a charm.

Cleaning out the hooked coarse side with the brush works too.

If all else fails it might be worth calling the boot maker and finding a shop that will resew a fresh set of Velcro in.

Once in a while the softer loop side will need cleaning. This is easy to do. Simply use the sticky side of duct tape. Blot it against the dirty side and pull the debris off.
