Right, I decided to go down the SBK conversion route and I am sort of stuck.
Bike is in the air, wheel off spindle out, forks out, time to remove top triple, undo the one bolt next to the tank, then the two at the back, can't see anything else attaching it to the bike, but it wont come off.

Seriously how do I get the top triple off?

Next questions I need some torque values
Front spindle
2 bolts at the bottom of the forks
2 bolts on lower triple
1 bolt on top triple
2 bolts on top triple.

All help is appreciated.

Also my old forks gurgle :eek:

Me too. 2001 900ss and I pulled the forks and wheel off to re-spring the forks. Does anyone know the torque values for the pinch bolts and axle nut?

Fitting - Size - Torque
Axle nut M25x1.25 63Nm
Steering bearings ring nut M25x1 12Nm
Limit check nut M8x1.25 18Nm
Steering plug M20x1.5 12Nm
Steering head screws for legs locking M10x1.5 37Nm
Steering head screws for shaft locking M8x1.25 23Nm
Bottom yoke screw M8x1.25 20Nm
Fork bottom end screw M8x1.25 19Nm

These are from the 1000SS manual, but should be the same for your bike.

Many thanks. Worked late and will be doing the install tomorrow. I can't wait to see how stiff this bad boy is now. Spring in the forks were for a 160lb person, I am at 200lb.

Have a workshop manual then

Got it thanks and for the link.

Cheers guys, sorry not had chance to get back on here.
It turns out that there may have been a bolt with a lot of holes in it that I may or may not have undone *cough*

Hopefully tomorrow I should have everything back from machine shop so put back together time, should I put any lube or anything on the spindle?

Not a fan of working on bikes so would like to get it right, least in a car if I get suspension wrong I have metal around me to absorb what ever I hit, if something goes up the swanny on the bike then well yeah you get the idea.
