I was doing some research and I am still confused. I am looking to replace my existing duc with a hyper. Looking at an early 1100, but I am getting conflicting info regarding if the valve guides issues carried over from the 1000DS or not?
Valve guides are a wear item they all wear out sooner or later if you put enough miles on a motor. That said Ducati was using some bad guides in the early to mid 2000's on all motors. A 1100 motor is later that the bad years so you should be fine but do not expect there is a magic bullet to prevent NORMAL wear just poor choices they made once.
I would expect a moderate mile 1100 motor to have guides that are plenty good, get it above 20,000 miles and it is probably similar to a 2,000 mile 2004 model.
