Hi guys,

I use to race with my 851 strada modified for race track, but I would like to upgrade front showa forks some how.

Any recommendations? Ohlins do not offer any vintage or older suspension.

Race tech gold valves and proper springs for your weight.

If you do not care about keeping it original looking you could update to either superbike forks, GSXR forks or modded 43mm supersport, monster or ST forks.
Ohlins will be $$$$ as they are not a easy conversion and I am not sure if the parts are still available from Ohlins. FG43 (modular road and tracks) should be possible.

Can you use Ohlins cartridges for the forks? 20mm IIRC. You might also check with a UK firm called K-Tech.

I wouldn't know though, I am stuck with M1R forks on my '90.

I bought some SP forks on eBay, then some used GSXR fork legs and swapped the guts and added Racetech springs . The result was pretty decent for relatively cheap, less than $600 . If I were you , I’d contact suspension specialists like Cogent and see what they could do for you.

Yep. I have a set of Ohlins fork cartridges that I'll be using in the Showa forks on my '95 900SS.

Coupla years ago Kyle Racing USA offered a custom Ohlins fork cartridge upgrade kit for the 851-888-900SS bikes that used the inverted 41mm Showa forks.

Basically they took a set of Ohlins Road and Track fork cartridges that I believe were meant for a Honda CBR600RR (at least that's what it says on the box that they came in) revalved them and machined a custom top cap for the cartridges so that they could be used in the inverted Showa forks that were on those three Ducati models.

These R&T fork cartridges use large 30mm diameter superbike pistons. Both cartridges are preload adjustable, left cartridge controls all the compression, right cartridge controls all the rebound.

Any recommendations? Ohlins do not offer any vintage or older suspension.
Says on the Kyle Racing website that they're a certified Ohlins service center Enzo and although they no longer list custom 851-888-900SS fork cartridges like the ones I have in the pic below they still do make custom fork cartridge kits.

The Honda RC51 hasn't been made since 2006 and yet Kyle Racing is still offering custom 30mm NIX fork cartridge kits with the same type of special machined top cap to fit the stock Showa forks that were used on those bikes.

Couldn't hurt to shoot them an Email and ask if they could build you a set for your 851. Click me.>>>Kyle Racing - Roadracing Motorcycles

BTW Enzo - To compliment those Ohlins fork cartridges I'm also replacing my chrome Showa fork tubes and installing a set of TNK gold titanium nitride coated tubes for a bit less fork stiction.

I'm not sure anyone at Kyle Racing will be answering the phone.

GP Suspension developed a custom kit, with mine as the prototype forks. I had them on the Adamo 851 but have since gone with period corse replica triples and Ohlins.

The adjustable offset billet triples are for sale, but I was thinking about putting the forks on my '97 900SS--which kind of defeats the purpose of keeping that bike low $$$, but...

PM me if you're interested in the forks, I just finished the build this Spring and the bike has maybe 1000 miles on it, with a chunk of those coming after the swap. The Showa fork bottoms were freshly powdercoated Ohlins silver. Everything in the forks is new--bushings, seals, kit and 10.5 springs. Superbike Suspension-owner Ken did the work.

I also have the ohlins fg43 in my strada.
They look great.
And if you want an extra update i can deliver replica racing yokes.
They are just the same as the ones in the corse/racing bikes.
But they are in aluminium instead of magnesium like on the race bikes.

You can have them in every fork size and off set you want.
Sold two sets for the ohlins fg9050 all ready and they both took them with an offset of 27mm.
These are a complete set with stem and bearings,so ready to use.
Price is 650€ for the set.
Can post some more pictures if you like.
