wa6usa,
Here's the parts locator I think you are looking for:
http://www.ducati.com/bikes/service/parts/2006.jhtml?family=service&node=parts&modelName=2006p

As to uncorking the pipes, go for it. Take a look at the muffler core at the end-cap of the can. If you take a Dremel or other Die-Grinder and carefully cut the weld out of the back, I bet you can pull at least the center core out, if not the whole guts. Mufflers really are not rocket science to mess with. The trick is to cover up the surgery after it has been performed. If you are meticulous in your cutting, and can Tig or Mig weld, you should be able to put it back together, and worst case, have to dress the welds up a little. Regardless, powder-coating or heat paint will be in order to put a finish back on them. (They are made of stainless, so you could strip and polish them I imagine as well.) -Capt

Ya Ol' 49er...

Thomas,
You will be happy to know that my research has paid-off. The cables I purchased for the Converti-bars worked out real well. They are '05 MTS 1000DS throttle cables. Part #656.2.002.1A :D

Remember: these are for the 1000DS Multistrada, the other motor sizes for the Multi use single pull cables. You must use the push/pull set-up (2 cables).

They work out real well. They are plenty long, in fact they could be 2-3" shorter, but I re-routed them differently and they are fine. Now, the only thing limiting my clip-on position if the PS fairing and fairing supports.
I will probably update the Converti-bar thread too, for anyone interested.
-Glad the Parts locator worked out for you. Don't forget that if you need to use a part off another model (MTS Cables for example...) the Parts Locator provides the detail on all other models too! -Capt

wa6usa,
I think you might be surprised once you put the Converti-bars on. The lift is not going to be quite as important as bringing the bar back toward the rider as I have said before. You will be very happy I think with the difference in feel and comfort once the bars are another 3/4" higher, BUT back about 2". It will change your body geometry substantially. Rather than being somewhat "raked" over the tank, you will now be more upright.

When your torso is in a more upright position, the wheel base of the bike will feel about 3" shorter, the bike feels lighter (...yet...) and it will feel as though you can run tighter in the corners, and be much more relaxed during a brisk ride. -Capt
