As Tom says (He tunes bikes for a living) the fueling should be lacking at high RPM´s.
I´m guessing that the ignition map on the 2v 944cc watercooled st2 engine is abit diffrent then the 916. That may be part of it. The other part might be your "seat of the pants" dyno. If the power comes suddenly after the map has been seriosly wrong just before the powersurge, you often get tricked into thinking that the bike is faster.
