Its two years ago that Casey Stoner put the Ducati on the top spot for the last time. No-one has even looked like winning on one since. Not much chance of a Ducati victory in 2013 either from my point of view

I think he's 100% spot oneso, do you think it's because Casey was so good?... and do you agree with what the author of Ducati News Today wrote?
Casey is absolutely mind blowing on a bike, hugely overlooked and blamed for a lot of shit which was way out of his control (angry rossi fans and a shite front ended ducati)
It's just a massive pisser that he's retiring IMO because unfortunately apart from a few truly deserving racers left on that Motogp grid a lot are there nowadays because the passport or face fits the 'target market'. Casey has only ever been there because he's the fastest man on the planet (bike related of course)
With a bit of luck he'll get bored and come back in 2014 but by the time that current Dorna tit has finished dumbing down everything I doubt they'll be much left to come back too. If that fooking twonk could figure out that by giving them all 5 litres of extra fuel they'd not need to blow millions developing such high end electronics then factory's can make their choice easier. Possibly even open up to two tyre manufacturers which would develop some competition there as well.
Oh well, there's always BSB to keep things real and I'm sure AMA is just as good for you guys,

Gavin Emmett summed it up best by saying all those year on the Ducati Stoner was bringing a knife to gun fight and more often winning. To this day no one has ridden a Ducati GP bike better than him.
Stoner is a great rider, without a doubt. In 2007, the year he won the championship on the Duc, wasn't the Duc acknowledged to have a power advantage over the other new 800s? Just thinking that the Duc may not have been as far behind then.

The Ducati has always handled like shit... Stoner rode around it... But the motor has been fast, but getting the power to the ground has been a challenge for everyone but Stoner...
Wonder if the next Ducati winner will receive an Audi super car. Why you ask, well in a related story from a previous owner of the company ....................

Bingo!!! It wasnt faster, it was WAY faster. Thats why it only won in 07 and after that the other manufactures realized the disadvantage and caught up, and the game ended. Not taking anything away from Stoner, in fact if the guy would of had a competitive bike from 07 on he would of probably kept on winning, just like he was/is doing on the Honda. As much as some people hate to admit it the ducati is just a huge POS. Some blame Rossi, some not, but as far as I see no one has been able to win/ride that bike after 2007. Even Stoner in 08 was struggling although he rode it better then Rossi or anyone else for that matter, but then again it was a completely different bike. I think it changed when traction control was introduced.. Vale seemed to be the best of the until then.. Not take anything away from Stoner, he is an amazing rider. Ducati can make a fast bike on the straights sure. Electronics are playing such a big part in who wins anymore and we all know how well Ducati does electronics.. It might be 2015 before another win.
The MotoGP bikes were all competitive before and during Stoner's tenure, winning races, ie podiumed in Ducati's first Motogp race, and a won Championship in 2007 due to the desmos revibility, (Yamaha went to pneumatics the next year and won) *and* Stoner's brilliance. All that changed when the c/f GP9 came out. Other than Stoner's brilliance on that bike, partly inspired perhaps by his insistence that the trellis frame was built too inconsitently and gave the go ahead for the c/f monocoque frame so he had more at stake than just a ride: *Then* it became a POS in corners, but still makes great power with the desmos. When they tried to correct the bike through major changes, they chose to change the frame first. Too bad they didn't try a trellis frame again instead of a twin spar Al perimiter one. Aren't Ducati's electronics done by Magneti Marelli? You know, Ferrari's F-1 electronics developer/supplier?I think it changed when traction control was introduced.. IMO, all of Ducati's woes can be summed up in 2 words.
