I have replaced timing belts many many times and there was always room in the adjusters to take up the slack with a 5mm spaced wedged between the idler roller and the belt.
I have just fitted new belts from Exactfit. They were tight when first fitted but after I started up the engine there was so much slack that the adjusters are at their max.
Has anyone else had this stretch problem with Exactfit belts?

Two things. Did you directly compare the new and old belts for length and are you sure you rotated the tensioner the right direction?

Edit. Forget the second question. I don't think that's possible on the 2v motor. :)

+1

Take the new belt off and check it against the old one for growth, etc
