A few pics and a vid of this 24 mile Colorado Scenic Byway. The north side was newly and divinely paved last autumn. The south side is a mix of new pavement, broken chip/seal, and 3.5 miles of dirt. A perfect Multistrada ride, and an up/down of the north side only is a perfect anything ride.

Next time you're in the vicinity, check it out, including the Silver Dale parking area where one can take a walking tour through an old ghost town. It's also a sweet connector between two major routes into the Rockies. Here's the map link...

There are Alps like parallels to this twisting, climbing road...

Here's one of the signs at the Silver Dale parking area...

Here's a clip from the vid as the 11,600ft pass summit is attained...

And if interest...

Greg, If you go all the way to Grant, here's an image from up high on the south side. With the recent moisture, the 3.5 miles of dirt down near Grant is in decent shape. Was on it yesterday.

Obie... Those clouds in these images visited me with their contents later in the day!

Nice...as usual. Man, it looks like CO is getting overcrowded. There were at least 6-7 cars in that vid!;)

Great choice of Pat Matheny!

Guanella Pass

Thanks for sharing this Steve, looks awesome and can't wait to ride it. My cousin just did this on 2 wheels but it was a bicycle race which she won. Pretty amazing stuff.

Took your advice Steve and rode over Guanella Pass. What a cool road that I have never been on! I had my wife on the back and even then, the dirt section was no big deal on the Multistrada. Bonus on this ride was that we stopped at the summit and saw a family of Moose swimming in a lake!

Neil... Teriffic images, including the ones of the moose fam! Looks like a very cooperative weather day. Guanella does deliver a fun and scenic ride. And a high one too.
