I recently heard that the Testastretta engine shim clearances are not measured using the loaded/unloaded technique. What gives? No closer rocker springs?
not quite true.... you can use that method if you like, but the fully removable cam cover makes it easy to directly measure the closer clearances between the followers and the cam instead.
I actually sometimes don't even use the feeler gauges on the closers. Once you get good enough, you can just push down on them with a flat bladed screw driver and feel how much clearance there is. Its the openers which need the feeler gauges more then anything.
