What would be wrong with being able to buy the SBK with either 999 or 916 skins and tank as a factory option?
none of that matters as the only good looking colour is no longer being applied at ducati

man, what funny responses.

you guys are too damn serious. And, if you don't think you asked for it, you're wrong.

Dude, as long as you like your bike, who cares what anyone else thinks?

Maybe now, Scotty will spank me for being a bad moderator.....

migs,

c'mon guy, you left the bait and set the trap but it backfired. YOU brought all the people that think the pt bikes are aesthetically disappointing into this thread, it wasn't the topic, so you've got no right to be mad about it now.

i love bikes of all kinds and do appreciate the pt bikes. the 749r is badass but that doesn't mean i have to think they're pretty or share your opinion, and that doesn't give you the right to call me a hater. if anyone gets that upset about someone else having a differing opinion, they only have their own insecurities to blame. the only opinion you need to give any weight to is your own. mark having an opinion on the subject has nothing to do with him being a good/bad moderator...if you think otherwise you're beyond needing to chill out, you just need to grow up.

people wouldn't call these bike ugly to an owner for the same reason they wouldn't call your wife or gf ugly. it's rude and an entirely different arena. this however, is a public forum where topics come up for discussion and yield solicited as well as unsolicited opinions. that's kind of the premise behind a DISCUSSION FORUM (duh)...if you can't handle it, then don't read it...and certainly don't be antagonistic.

btw, this DOES happen on the japanese bike forums. in fact it bet it happens on all forums.

I will say it again:

If you don't have anything nice to say about another man's bike, especially when you want to use words like 'ugly' and all that ... then don't cry and whine about your 'freedom of opinion' if you get flamed by the owner... he is only expressing his. Makes sense?

If you say to me "don't read it" if I don't like it ... then I say to you "don't read my messages if you don't like it" either. This will go round and round.

But it always starts with one bad apple, maybe two... and then next thing you know, the good people get dragged in, then the good people leave, the forum blows up.

I consider myself a good member of this forum, as these flames here are only a fraction of my contribution to Ducati.ms

You cannot blame me for being tired of getting bashed over and over with every mention of 'Terblanche.' This is easy for you, because NONE OF YOU OWN A TERBLANCHE BIKE.

So ... please, before you cast your stones, consider being on the receiving end of repetitive name-calling, then perhaps you will figure out how a few bad apples can ruin perfectly good people and a perfectly good forum!!

:D LOL, that's what makes this so funny...no one said a damned thing about YOUR your bike and no one's crying or whining except you...make sense?
Are you sure no one said a damn thing about Terblanche bikes? Don't make me pull threads, I am sure I'll find a couple from you too. :D

I edited my post above, read it, maybe you will understand. If not well, Good luck, Lol.

migs,

umm...go back and read what i said. no one said a damned thing about YOUR bike. you can edit all you like but the same theme appears in all of your posts...you're taking our opinions of an inanimate object as a personal insult. please understand, no one is "bashing you" or "calling you names" as you stated and continuously misinterpret. even if we did, none of us or our opinions on this public forum really matter in YOUR life...right?

remember, you put your buttons out there, then egged us on to push them.

and if they did so what...does it really affect you?
After some repetitive non-stop bashing from the same old rotten apples .... YES. But not any more than my posting here would affect you, so you might have a good measure of what it's like. Not so little, not so much, but irritating. Good night. :)

I think superbikes haven't been the same since the 851/888 and those are the Superbikes I like!...if I were to be buying a Superbike...I'd be looking for one of those!

Migz....yes...I am not an owner of any SBK's....nor am I an owner of any PT bikes...I love my Monster and would be hard pressed to have to find a replacement for it...maybe I'd consider an S4Rs...but that remains to be seen....no one on this thread has bashed your bike and hardly anyone has bashed the 749/999 in this thread (except Buckelew as more of a joke than anything-but his opinions of this particular breed are more well known anyway since you are reading the archives)....PT is a designer....and like most designers...will have criticism of both positive and negative viewpoints....some of the things he has addressed as percieved problems with the previous incarnation have been wonderfully dealt with...and yet he took a progressive modernistic step with the rest....will it hold a candle as a timeless design 10 years from now?...who knows...it depends on how the market in general develops as well as how Ducati progresses....but that doesn't change the fact that it is currently a marketable product...and it had a hard act to follow in the 916 series SBK incarnations which have proven to be timeless in aestethic....that doesn't mean that PT's design won't do the same....it is just too soon in history to see how it will all unfold!

Bottom line....it is a Ducati....and we all are Ducatisti around here....so please do me a favor and chill out and stop the bashing-esque banter because this board is not a flamatorium like other boards....feel free to discuss...but IMHO as one of the moderators in this community...you are on the edge of what it is about other boards we try and strive not to be here.

I own two (ST2, SS1000DS).

But I still think that the Sport 1000 is fat and ugly!

Tom
Tom,

I too thought that my ST was designed by Terblanche, but I have been corrected on this. It was designed by Miguel Galluzzi (sp?) as his last work before going to MV to start on the Brutale.

Terblanche did the update of the ST with the new headlight etc., much as he did the "update" on my 888SPO with the re-designed tail section and tank.

Cheers, b

Mind your tongues.

Alright,
Like the designs or not, anymore bashing and flaming and I will delete this thread.

Cut the crap and act like adults.

Lets keep it civil.
This is not a place for exercising your right to free speech, as this site is paid for by private funds.

And I will smack up anyone that doesn't like it.

This is the freaking internet.

OK, I see the trend.

And here is my take:

Can you please name to me a Moderator that DOES own a Terblanche bike, or better yet, one that has a 749/999?

If you or anyone on this board don't want this place to become a flame fest-o-rama every time TERBLANCHE comes up, just like other boards... then I would highly suggest that someone who DOES own a Terblanche bike be a moderator.... that way, that moderator can exercise his power to shut-up the Terblanche Haters when they get out of line, the same way YOU guys are trying to shut me up.

MEMBERS THEREFORE SHOULD NOT BE SURPRISED WHY DUCATI.MS IS FULL OF FLAMING AGAINST TERBLANCHE HATE ... IT IS NOW BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS.... NOT ONLY DO YOU NOT HAVE UNFAIR MODERATING... YOU EVEN HAVE MODS THAT ADD TO THE FLAMING ON A CONTROVERSIAL TOPIC.... ALL OF WHICH DO NOT OWN THE BIKES IN QUESTION!!

END OF STORY!

Final word.

Look, here is the deal.

I own a Terblanche SS.
I love my bikes design.
Others hate it.

You know what?
I don't give a fuck.

Its my bike.
And that is all that matters.

Keep it civil people.

Last warning.
