huh, good luck with what? i've already got a REALLY great bike...the greaterest bike, so there.
...the GREATEST BIKE?? Would you like to compare penis size as well?

Enjoy your bike, good for you. Ducati will live on long after its haters like yourself are gone ... just like it has in the past. So ... GOOD LUCK.

shibbydevil -- I don't care what you say, and frankly you can take your beer and put it in your back side for all I care.

As for people calling the Terblanche bike ugly on the message boards... that's real funny because they are nowhere to be seen in real life. And what does this tell you?

Somebody needs some Midol.

wow... guy... yeah... so i was sittin here and was rather shocked by your reply and subsequent comments that make you appear to be a person with less than average intelligence. No one said your bike is ugly, especially me. I kind of like the 749/999 as more and more time passes. Took a while to grow on me but I am gettin there.

You should be ashamed to bash a fellow Ducatista!!!!
Uhhh... you told me to shove beer up my ass. You ought to be ashamed. The only thing your going to prove to everyone here by saying "Ill give you a time and place to call my bike ugly" is not that your tough and that we are all intimidated by your greatness, I think it would be more along of the lines of an eye roll and a nice "o man, another internet hothead" comment.

Lighten up, you have a pretty bike, everyone here respects ducati in all its forms, and everyone here ought to have enough respect for everyone else to not talk to shit to folks. This board has stayed largely free of drama and person bashing from the get go and is what makes it great. Please go join some other board if you want to do that.

Now if you have some nice reply about how you want to kick my ass or where we should meet up or whatever, go ahead and PM it to me and keep it off of here. Take care.

Just to be clear, I am not calling the 999 design "ugly." But even if I were, it's just a matter of opinion. Who cares what I think? You like it, you like it. You don't, you don't. What I was looking for is some info regarding Terblanche "alluding" to the fact that Ducati compromised his design of the 999. I'd like to get a sense of what his aesthetic sense is absent Ducati influence.

I am the owner of a 749 Dark and a 749R .... both obviously designed by Terblanche.

If anyone wants to come in here and call my bike ugly... get ready for the flames from HELL. As I will be expressing my opinion as well.

I am tired of people bashing my choice of bike...

... this always happens when Terblanche's name comes up.

Or better yet: come over and tell me my bike is UGLY in real life. I will give you a time and place where you can do it.

This thread kind of reminds me of routine stuff that went on over at Club Desmo before it exploded. Being an observer in this, I don't recall any one bashing your bikes, you administered a pre emptive strike before the thread got there. BTW, whats wrong with voicing ones opinion about bike designs? People bad mouth the multi stradas all the time, yet Ducati sells a lot of them in Europe. I suppose beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and function takes precedent over form applies to this case.

As for the 749/999 design, I'm kind of like Shibby, the design is growing on me and I suppose I would like it more if I didn't have the older style 916 bike. The older style bike has its flaws, one is it has a "bad side" to it (cosmetically speaking). The 916 design was brought up in conversation yesterday at a motorcycle dealership. They had a line up of used bikes, going back ten or more years. The japanese bikes looked dated and worn out, you can't say that about the older superbike Ducatis. They still maintain contemporary looks. However, the Japanese have a fast learning curve, the 06 600 Yamaha and Suzuki are fantastic, very MotoGP like. I think Tamburini hit the marketing bullseye when he explained the Supermono design: to use a prone women as your motorcyle design inspiration, well what can you say.

As for my opinion of the 749/999? I like it, afterall I wanted to put a bid on a 749S that was for sale the other day, but it was sold. If I had a complaint, it would be the broadnest of the nose. I noticed that even more watching MotoGP and WSBK. The front end of the Ducati looked massive, otherwise the design suits my taste.

I see Bruce on occasion, talk to him a couple oftimes a month - you want me to set up a get-together next time you're up, Bevel?

And the 749/999......UGLY UGLY UGLY! And, if that really gets your panties in a bunch.....you REALLY need to get a life. They're called opinions, dude. While I may not like the looks of the bike, I do appreciate that you find them attractive - because if there weren't people who found them attractive - Ducati would be out of business.

Hypermoto - I'll be looking for one.

the admins decided that they would rather have a board that was open to new people and supported their questions with useful meaningful responses rather than smart ass comments and half answers designed to show how smart he could be. They banned him, apparently reconsidered, made his own special spot on the forum where he could be an ass, and he never reappeared.

It just gets a little tiring to hear the same opinions from the same people on the same Ducatis over and over and over again.

It's also a little rude, IMO. It's kinda like someone coming over to visit and saying...jeez, you've got a damned ugly house, eh? Or....shit, your wife's face is like the back end of a donkey, no?

Opinions, true - and we're all entitled to 'em, but some of us just find it gets so damned tiring to hear the same rants over and over from the same people. Is there ANYONE who DOESN'T know who amongst the old-timer bunch here doesn't like the **9 or MS bikes? I doubt it - we've heard it all SO MANY times before. zzzzzzzZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's part of the reason I find myself frequenting this site less and less. I prefer to hang with guys who actually like the Ducatis many of us ride....(and I don't even own a PT bike - yet).

To all the owners of the 749 or 999 or MS (or Supermono or SportClassics) - I say "Enjoy your bike. It's a true Ducati evolution, and just as distinct, unique, fun, emotive and stylish as any before." That's MY opinion.

And I do like my 996 very much- but would swap it in an instant for a 999. I would find it difficult to believe anyone WOULDN'T, if given the chance, eh?

Dude ......... you call yourself a moderator?

Are you the owner here? You should be admonished for making a such a comment... not only because it's insulting, but you're adding to the flames, man.

You should be an EXAMPLE of forum ethics, help moderate threads, be helpful to forum members and NOT ADD TO FLAMES!

This statement is not true. You have 996 posts in this forum, and you have not noticed? And you call me a person of below average intelligence? HELLO :D

_______________________________

Bruce19 -- I was not referring to you ... but rather to others in this forum who are a little more 'colorful' in bike bashing. So, I apologize if my posts made you feel as though you are part of that small group of haters.

_______________________________

John -- There is nothing wrong with people expressing their opinions... up until it is repetitive. And then they are certain to illicit a passionate response. It is like this in everything in life, not just Ducati bikes. This is why you see this, and perhaps what happened to Club Desmo. A few bad apples destroy a whole forum ... all in the name of 'expressing opinion' one too many times. People should just be respectful of others in the first place, that's all.

______________________________

I see all you guys complaining about my posts and telling me to chill are not 749/999 owners... coincidence?

Everyone knows that the mere mention of TERBLANCHE in any thread brings out the HATERS of the 749/999 series... TRUE or FALSE?

Before you all go accuse me of getting "my panties in a bunch" just imagine for just ONE MINUTE ... what it is like get your choice of bike bashed by a bunch of say, what Collin Edwards would refer to as "Casper Couch Champions" ... who don't even own it! Of course calling a bike UGLY would illicit passionate response from its owners - so don't criticize, and don't tell me to chill ........ unless you have 'walked the mile.'

All I am trying to say to "SOME" people on this forum is STFU already and stop bashing the 749/999 and other Terblanche bikes!!! And it was said early because it is known that they would be here... well well well, look at where we are now.

There are many Terblanche bike owners in here for godsakes, as stated above, for the FEW of you that do like to call the Terblanche bikes ugly ... you wouldn't do this in front of an owner, in person, would you? So why would you do it on a public thread? Take it to PM's and bash all you want with your fellow haters.

You wouldn't find any Japanese bike forums that suffer from flaming of owners from model to model ... what a shame!

Thank you to OldBaldy for bringing some sense into this thread.

I agree with you that there are a 'few' of these forum members that frequently and very loosely call the 749/999, Multistrada, and even the SS lines words like 'crap' 'ugly' and 'abomination' ... which no one really cares about, until it becomes repetitive on the part of the very same people.

I also understand people expressing opinions, but after a while this gets tiring, which is what was stated on the first page of this thread... I AM TIRED OF IT!!

I admire your level headedness, especially that you are a 916 owner! Your class and being able to see things from another man's point of view is greatly appreciated.

Now play nice or we'll have to put this thread back in the toy box.
Well, you were right. That's the last time I ask a question about Pierre Terblanche. Ask a simple question and get a bunch of .... No mas!
