I am the owner of a 749 Dark and a 749R .... both obviously designed by Terblanche.

If anyone wants to come in here and call my bike ugly... get ready for the flames from HELL. As I will be expressing my opinion as well.

I am tired of people bashing my choice of bike...

... this always happens when Terblanche's name comes up.

Or better yet: come over and tell me my bike is UGLY in real life. I will give you a time and place where you can do it.

John -- There is nothing wrong with people expressing their opinions... up until it is repetitive. And then they are certain to illicit a passionate response. It is like this in everything in life, not just Ducati bikes. This is why you see this, and perhaps what happened to Club Desmo. A few bad apples destroy a whole forum ... all in the name of 'expressing opinion' one too many times. People should just be respectful of others in the first place, that's all.

I see all you guys complaining about my posts and telling me to chill are not 749/999 owners... coincidence?

Everyone knows that the mere mention of TERBLANCHE in any thread brings out the HATERS of the 749/999 series... TRUE or FALSE?

Before you all go accuse me of getting "my panties in a bunch" just imagine for just ONE MINUTE ... what it is like get your choice of bike bashed by a bunch of say, what Collin Edwards would refer to as "Casper Couch Champions" ... who don't even own it! Of course calling a bike UGLY would illicit passionate response from its owners - so don't criticize, and don't tell me to chill ........ unless you have 'walked the mile.'

All I am trying to say to "SOME" people on this forum is STFU already and stop bashing the 749/999 and other Terblanche bikes!!! And it was said early because it is known that they would be here... well well well, look at where we are now.

There are many Terblanche bike owners in here for godsakes, as stated above, for the FEW of you that do like to call the Terblanche bikes ugly ... you wouldn't do this in front of an owner, in person, would you? So why would you do it on a public thread? Take it to PM's and bash all you want with your fellow haters.

You wouldn't find any Japanese bike forums that suffer from flaming of owners from model to model ... what a shame!

Thank you to OldBaldy for bringing some sense into this thread.

I agree with you that there are a 'few' of these forum members that frequently and very loosely call the 749/999, Multistrada, and even the SS lines words like 'crap' 'ugly' and 'abomination' ... which no one really cares about, until it becomes repetitive on the part of the very same people.

I also understand people expressing opinions, but after a while this gets tiring, which is what was stated on the first page of this thread... I AM TIRED OF IT!!

I admire your level headedness, especially that you are a 916 owner! Your class and being able to see things from another man's point of view is greatly appreciated.

If you don't have anything nice to say about another man's bike, especially when you want to use words like 'ugly' and all that ... then don't cry and whine about your 'freedom of opinion' if you get flamed by the owner... he is only expressing his. Makes sense?

If you say to me "don't read it" if I don't like it ... then I say to you "don't read my messages if you don't like it" either. This will go round and round.

But it always starts with one bad apple, maybe two... and then next thing you know, the good people get dragged in, then the good people leave, the forum blows up.

I consider myself a good member of this forum, as these flames here are only a fraction of my contribution to Ducati.ms

You cannot blame me for being tired of getting bashed over and over with every mention of 'Terblanche.' This is easy for you, because NONE OF YOU OWN A TERBLANCHE BIKE.

So ... please, before you cast your stones, consider being on the receiving end of repetitive name-calling, then perhaps you will figure out how a few bad apples can ruin perfectly good people and a perfectly good forum!!

Migz....yes...I am not an owner of any SBK's....nor am I an owner of any PT bikes...

...but IMHO as one of the moderators in this community...you are on the edge of what it is about other boards we try and strive not to be here.

OK, I see the trend.

And here is my take:

Can you please name to me a Moderator that DOES own a Terblanche bike, or better yet, one that has a 749/999?

If you or anyone on this board don't want this place to become a flame fest-o-rama every time TERBLANCHE comes up, just like other boards... then I would highly suggest that someone who DOES own a Terblanche bike be a moderator.... that way, that moderator can exercise his power to shut-up the Terblanche Haters when they get out of line, the same way YOU guys are trying to shut me up.


MEMBERS THEREFORE SHOULD NOT BE SURPRISED WHY DUCATI.MS IS FULL OF FLAMING AGAINST TERBLANCHE HATE ... IT IS NOW BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS.... NOT ONLY DO YOU NOT HAVE UNFAIR MODERATING... Ok this is the last thing I am going to say about this and I will start with an apology.

I apologize for my posts, which I acknowledge is now out of line, I will not make any excuses. I should have been more civil, and more matured.

But perhaps I am just trying to get to the bottom of what I have gotten myself into here.

Perhaps the reason why we get this topic turned into a flame-o-rama is because it is allowed to become one so many times in the past. This is not criticism ... but merely just a thought to consider for future reference. Because if not, then this is bound to be repeated ... not by me, but who knows.

All I have asked for is people to be respectful when criticizing other bikes.

I am sorry you guys. This problem is much bigger than I am, and than any of us here --- I should have known better.
