pt is so unhappy i'm not surprised to hear him say anything anymore.

put a 749 next to an f4...the bike that many people argue the next gen ducatis could have, would have, and should have looked like...and yeah, the 749 is pretty gawd damned ugly. put a 749r next to any japanese bike and sure, i'll take the duc. but there are many cases that i'll choose ugly simply because that attribute alone gives the product character and makes it different.

but that's neither here nor there and just an opinion so flame on if you must, i couldn't give a rat's ass.

nah, i don't need a time or place...you already know how i feel. saying it "in person" is overrated anyways.

if it makes you feel any better i do have to admit that the bike has grown on me...but that still doesn't make it beautiful in my eyes.

nah, just trying to point out how childish this is. and as secure as i am in my manhood, i still don't want to see your penis.

you're calling me a hater...lol, now that's funny. don't be mad at me cause you bought an ugly bike...or two.

migs,

c'mon guy, you left the bait and set the trap but it backfired. YOU brought all the people that think the pt bikes are aesthetically disappointing into this thread, it wasn't the topic, so you've got no right to be mad about it now.

i love bikes of all kinds and do appreciate the pt bikes. the 749r is badass but that doesn't mean i have to think they're pretty or share your opinion, and that doesn't give you the right to call me a hater. if anyone gets that upset about someone else having a differing opinion, they only have their own insecurities to blame. the only opinion you need to give any weight to is your own. mark having an opinion on the subject has nothing to do with him being a good/bad moderator...if you think otherwise you're beyond needing to chill out, you just need to grow up.

people wouldn't call these bike ugly to an owner for the same reason they wouldn't call your wife or gf ugly. it's rude and an entirely different arena. this however, is a public forum where topics come up for discussion and yield solicited as well as unsolicited opinions. that's kind of the premise behind a DISCUSSION FORUM (duh)...if you can't handle it, then don't read it...and certainly don't be antagonistic.

btw, this DOES happen on the japanese bike forums. in fact it bet it happens on all forums.

migs,

umm...go back and read what i said. no one said a damned thing about YOUR bike. you can edit all you like but the same theme appears in all of your posts...you're taking our opinions of an inanimate object as a personal insult. please understand, no one is "bashing you" or "calling you names" as you stated and continuously misinterpret. even if we did, none of us or our opinions on this public forum really matter in YOUR life...right?

remember, you put your buttons out there, then egged us on to push them.

Lastly, there isn't a soul here who can argue that the lastest gen bikes aren't a better bike under the skin. The improvements in the functionality of the new bikes are HUGE. I buy what I love and wouldn't suggest anything else do otherwise. The 749 really talks to you. What more could anyone ask for ?

b.
exactly! and that can't be taken away simply because some of us are not fond of the new looks.

i haven't been around for much longer than you so my opinion is worth no more than yours...and neither is anyone else's regardless of their time spent in "the community". that's what should be at the forefront of you mind when reading all the pages of these discussions. believe it or not, all of us LOVE the new bikes as a package. if i was in the market for another bike, the 749r would be on my very short list. so just because we feel disappointed over the styling doesn't mean the love (and respect) isn't there. no matter how any of us feels about the aesthetics, as bevel said, there's no one that can disagree that it is an overall better bike than it's predecessor.
